Wow - Harbaugh #1 at $9 million. Saban a distant second at $6.9. Charlie 6th at $5.2. I'm thinking we're not getting our money's worth. http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...ugh-salary-tops-list-college-football-coaches
It is really sad on our part that Charlie Strong makes more than Kevin Sumlin. Kevin Sumlin 42-17 Charlie Strong 14-18 Charlie has been coaching UT for half the time Sumlin has been at A&M and already has more losses and yet makes more money. Thanks Steve Patterson and Bill Powers!
Wow...$9M is a lot of cash. Meyer and Saban must already be salivating at their next contract negotiation.
Desperado, You wouldn't be getting your "money's worth" if it was $520,000. Again, when you turn these things over to self-serving, egomaniacal educrats with a personal agenda, this kind of **** happens. Thank you, Bill Powers, you owe The University of Texas over $25 million in wasted salaries and lost revenue.
OU went 11-2 last year, won the Big 12 and made the playoff so I would not say they are getting ripped off even if Stoops is having a rebuilding year.
Beyond repair. I'll always love Barkley's about him not being a role model. He said athletes are not roll models and shouldn't be consider one. Collective bargaining ruined professional sports
I think we're all just getting old. Our grandfathers were likely complaining about baseball 50 years ago.
But he lost to us last year, and got beat by uh this year. Not to mention getting blown away in bowl games.
Stoops is still better and more proven than the coaches at: Oregon, Oregon State, Berzerkley, USC, Arizona, ASU, Colorado, Utah, BYU, A&M, Baylor, Tech, oSu, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Iowa State, Missouri, Indiana, Minnesota, Illinois, Purdue, Northwestern, Arkansas, LSU, Auburn, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vandy, FSU, South Carolina, Florida, UGA, NCSU, Wake, VT, UVA, State Penn, UMd, ND, ND Lite, any school north of the ghetto known as College Park, and any non P5 school. I'm old enough to remember DKR's bowl games against Auburn, State Penn, Nebraska, as well as a number of great games including wins over ND, Navy, & Alabama. You may not like him, but Bob Stoops is an elite coach. OU fans continuously get down on him, but the realization of what is out there to replace him is finally setting in.
This speaks for itself. Stoops is an elite coach. I cannot stand him and his baby seal clubbing ways, but I do respect his accomplishments. It amazes me how the fans can ignored all the wins and only focus on the few losses with Brown and Stoops, then other fans can ignore all of Strong's losses and only focus on the wins. "That 11-2 coach sucks, but our guy that went 5-7 last year needs more time."
Stoops has at times has been elite, but 77 your chart shows the inconsistency. I remember the "Big Game Bob" label.
Inconsistency? - out of 17 yrs, only 4 yrs w/ less than 10 wins / more than 3 losses? 9 conference championships? Or are you seeing something in that chart that I'm missing? We'd like to think of the "Big Game Bob" moniker as much as ou/atm want to believe in the "Mack Brown can't win the big games" mantra.
Stoops has 9 B12 conference championships....how many have we had; 2 by Brown and 1 by Mackovic in 20 complete seasons.
You can't question Stoops and the Sooner as a quality of team... They have accomplished much more than we have in the last 20 years... Only a handful of coaches have performed better than stoops during his tenure at OU... Definitely not us. We were great for 10 years, and so were they... they kept winning, we gave up.
