The officiating just absolutely killed us. 4 TDs for tech that had an illegal pic, 2 holds, and Foreman scores as the defender is 2 feet in the end zone and he's the one that pulls it out. Refs need a simple lesson in math. His arms aren't that long idiots.
The last five minutes of the game are why I do not believe that Strong can be successful here long term. Call it coaching acuity. He just lacks it. And I'm willing to bet that the decision to use the 18 Wheeler package was his, not Gilbert's. In a game where we overperformed defensively, we still tried to give it away.
re: Foreman on bench at the end vs. Reggie Bush on bench in 2006 MNC. I think a better analogy would be if White was on the bench. For the most part, Bush was not a factor in that game. However, Foreman and Lendale White were the big runners in these respective games.
It was a great day for Foreman, congratulations to him on an amazing performance. But how did we hold on at the end for the win? Tech had every chance to tie it up and force overtime. Of course, they would have needed the two point conversion, not always successful.
We won the game guys. On the road at TTech! That was a good win. Let yourself enjoy it without tearing down the coaching staff in the process. Never seen a fan base that so dislikes winning. Good game Coach Strong! Good game Horns. Now beat WVU at home. Hook'em.
Gosh, can't we just enjoy the fact that we won a game AT Tech and held them to well below their average points and yards?!?
Agree 100%, another coaching mistake. Elite coaches don't leave their best player on the bench for the two most important plays of the game.
Let me add that clearly Tech and Bailor are not very good this year. Nor is ND. I know that the Rose Colored Glasses Crowd is probably hyperventilating just about now. Let's see what we do against WVA and TCU before we throw the parade.
Strong's team beat them so they couldn't be that good? I think it's sad that people are so invested in our coaches failure that they can't even enjoy the win without downgrading the win, the coach, etc. We just shut down the #1 scoring offense IN THE NATION! The defense is getting better. And without dropped passes, fumbles and penalties we win easily by 3 scores. Not a perfect game but a helluva win in Lubbock. Go Strong! Go Horns! Beat WVU at home!
Moon, I want to see a return to greatness. To relevance. That's why what appear to have been aberrations like Tech do little for me. Until Texas is in the national conversation every year; until we are a contender for a playoff spot every year or most, I will not be satisfied. Not close. We are Texas, not the Aggies. I take very little joy in moral victories. Versus expectations, this team has underperformed. Versus expectations, this coach has been a terrible disappointment. Yes, my glass is half full, and I dare say that 65-75% of Longhorn Nation fells the same. The coach that brings Texas back to where we belong, to national prominence, will have my full support. This coach did at the beginning of his tenure. He also did at the beginning of 2016. Not any more.
Boyd intercepted with 9 seconds on the clock. If # eight catches it with 9 left then he has to make to the end zone. I think he would have been tackled short. The clock would have expired, and we win anyway. That's my take.
Zeke Elliott just called and said yes ... #MichiganStateLoss (stolen from Badass) And then there's Pete Carrol leaving Reggie Bush on the sidelines on 4th and one during a NC game.
His response to the question seems to bear out your opinion...he actually tried to discuss and rationalize it based upon the success they have had with the package. Oblivious to the fact that success at the beginning of the season does not overcome the constant bucket of suck that it has become as teams adjusted...
Whoever decided to use the 18 wheeler needs to stop it. It was great when no one seemed able to defend it, but everyone has figured it out. Just stop.
NO, knowing full well a performance like this against any decent team would have resulted in a L. We should have won this game by 25+. Watching Cal last night reminded me just how horrible they are, yet we still managed to lose to them. I'm happy Charlie has improved the defense, but it's too little too late. Had be done something last year we could be sitting at 7-1 or 8-0. I'm glad some people are happy with their moral victory. I guess it's like a good drug.
It seems like it works pretty well when we are deep in our own end and need to get a few yards, but then gets shut down when we need the short yards for a first down. Maybe it is so predictable what we are going to do in that situation.
Pincher, this was an on the field real victory. Not pretty with very disappointing Texas coaching the last 5 minutes, but it was still a W.
