In this context, yes, it has become extremely politicized
The main idea of my post was to attempt tie the election to declining NFL ratings. I am saying that there is a relationship between the force that propelled Trump to victory and the fact that Americans are turning off the NFL (an idea that seemed crazy for the last 50 years). Here, I attempt to draw a comparison to these unfolding and largely concurrent events in American society.
You had no response to this main theory I floated. None. Zero.
Instead, you responded by picking out a tiny detail to disagree with, from which you then attempt to divert attention away from the main idea onto something else entirely -- in other words, a strawman. This is analogous to the way Democrats attacked Trump. They ignored his ideas (trade, jobs, immigration and so on) and instead attacked him for tangential often superfluous items. For example, instead of dealing with Trump's thoughts on TPP/NAFTA (and other bad trade treaties), the Democrats attacked him over an endorsement by some KKK person. The problem for you is the same it was for them -- it did not work.
I am making the argument that the US media's now constant attempt to turn sports into a political space is also failing.
Again, you have or had no response. Why go off on a tangent and ignore the main idea? Is it because you agree? Is it because you agree but do not want to publicly admit as much? Or, is it because you disagree but are unable to form a coherent counterargument of your own? Are you waiting for a celebrity to address this issue so you will know how to respond? Which is it?
