When Obama became POTUS-Elect the story was the removal of his blackberry. Is it time to take away Trump's Twitter access?

Is this really focused on the big picture when he tweets this at 3am? POTUS-Elect Trump really needs to get some thicker skin.

Incidentally, Trump's NYTimes feud is eerily reminiscent of Obama's Fox feud in 2008. Though the Obama administration wasn't as public as Twitter, they reportedly did a lot behind the scenes to punish Fox including limiting access to any Administration officials.

This is politics. I don't think a public spat is helpful.

So upon his inauguration (coronation), the "T" the in TOTUS will refer to "Tweeter" instead of "Teleprompter". In any case, it is a continuation of his demonization of the media (more specifically those outlets critical of him). He is just using what he believes is one of the most effective tools our of social media driven society to fight back. His future actions will show whether his retaliation against the media compares to his predecessors. An independent and free press is a pillar of all democracies, but the sad reality is that many of the once trusted institutions of our democracy are under/on fire. We can only hope he and we aren't doing irreparable harm; nevertheless it will be a long difficult climb to restore them to a trusted status.

It has been recently proven that FOX reports closer to the truth and facts than any other media outlet. Do you need a really big example?

SH may disagree with me on this, but I think the Times thoroughly discredited itself during this campaign. They crossed way over the line from news and serious commentary into blatant, one-sided propaganda. They were far more like Joseph Goebbels than like Walter Cronkite or any serious news man.

So what should Trump do with the Times? He should ignore them. By responding to them with juvenile Tweets, he lends them a credibility they no longer have and frankly reinforces the caricature they've drawn of him as a petty, thin-skinned hack who can't handle critics.

I think the NYT definitely showed it's bias, just like CNN. In fact, much of the mainstream media seemed to justify their bias as a "public service" which to me seems very odd. Was the NYT as biased as some of the infamous blogging sites? Not remotely but it was enough that the publishers should be embarrassed for sullying the reputation of the newspaper.

I'd agree that Trump needs to get thicker skin. He needs to use his surrogates to fight his battles. These petty personal fights are beneath the office he'll soon hold.

Unless they're claiming to be serious news, those don't bother me. There's nothing wrong with being a political advocate, but there is something wrong with being a political advocate who claims to be a fair news source.

I'd agree with that but there are more that a few on here that would feel some of those bloggers and "news" sites are fair news sources. Sites that we would both put in the propaganda category.

None-the-less, NYT did itself a disservice this election cycle. Many formerly credible news organizations did. I'll look forward to reading the post-election academia analysis on what happened with the media. Did Trump push them to their base liberal roots? Did the alternate reality that Trump created tip them off their game? Seriously, fact checked every Trump tweet or statement for accuracy then the primary liar this cycle wasn't Ted Cruz. Regardless, the media certainly has egg on their faces from this election.

My friend says I should drop the Hillary has lost stuff. Past sell date. Well, if he is being honest, then maybe the election protesters will start feeling the same way.

The reason Trump likes using twitter is the same reason the media hates his twitter. It is not complicated. It is different sides of the same coin. He has said as much already. While Trump does not love twitter, but he does like the fact that it lets him communicate directly to people and not through a media filter first. Doing it this ways thwarts the media's desire to first fit his comments into one of their pre-determined narratives.

But I think what you guys are really missing is the humor that is sure to come from this situation -- At some point, if Twitter is consistent, they are going to ban him.

Unlike in 2008 no one, at least those on here who chango tried to denigrate,
No one thinks it will be all rainbows and unicorns or as you out it no Santa Claus
But we do think and expect many things will get better.
And the relief thar a lying gov't employee who put her personal gain ahead of our country did NOT win is cause for feeling good would not you agree?

Notwithstanding whether you feel good or not, I think its a bit premature to claim the high ground. It remains to be seen just how "blind" Trump's personal business interests will be if they are run by his kids once he takes office. Hmmm... trillion dollar infrastructure bill pushed by a guy who was in the construction business.

I feel good that she lost. I don't know what to think about his victory. Like I've always said, her crappiness doesn't make him any better or more ethical.

Or that Trump might do what Hillary did?
Now you are what 'iffin based on the Clinton sleaze
Nothing suggests Trump or his kids would
    Versus we know Hillary did.

Trump is very predictable. He returns eye for eye. Don't expect an escalation on his part.

    Cuomo/CNN obsessed with Trump's tweeting
Conway addresses his angst -- "Why do you care?" -lol

A top Donald Trump aide is dismissing questions about the president-elect's tweeting, asking why a network news anchor would care.

"Why take it up? Why take up SNL? No president does that. Why waste time? Why distract?" CNN's Chris Cuomo asked Kellyanne Conway Monday morning.

"Why do you care?" Conway replied in the contentious interview.

Trump over the weekend tweeted criticisms of "Saturday Night Live" and repeatedly called on the "Hamilton" cast to apologize to Mike Pence for comments targeted at the vice president-elect.

"Who's to say he can't do that? Make a comment - spend five minutes sending a tweet, making a comment," Conway said on Monday.

She then accused Cuomo of assigning "wrongdoing" and "malice" where it doesn't exist.

"I think we should all learn from the election that this doesn't fly with the voters," she added.

Conway said CNN is "focusing on divisions" by bringing up Trump's tweeting.

"This network and other people will always be focused on divisions. How about accepting the election results, Chris, and letting him form a government?"

"He is a leader, and takes the counsel of many people, and that's exactly what he's doing."

Cuomo shot back: "And a leader should also have thick skin."

Conway continued to defend Trump's Twitter use as a way to reach his "25 million followers."

"It's a great way for him to take his message directly to the people," she said.

"Sometimes he's trying to cut through the nonsense of people telling Americans what's important to them.

If your message is that Trump is using twitter to distract then I'd agree. The problem is that he's taking a larger than life office (POTUS) and making it look very small.

He is avoiding the media filter to communicate with the people directly
And they dont like it -- to the extend there is a problem, it is this

I don't have a problem with POTUS communicating with the people. For years they've used their bully pulpit. New mediums aren't an issue either as podcasts and other types of interviews are becoming the norm.

It's the message and the smallness of the issue that makes no sense. The cast clearly wasn't harassing Pence (he said he had no issue with their message). I think Trump trumped up his response to the Hamilton cast to push his Trump U. settlement off the Sunday news shows. Was it a surprise the settlement was announced on a Friday afternoon?

The problem isn't that he uses Twitter. The problem is that he engages in pissing matches. It makes him look juvenile and petty. The Hamilton fiasco is a good example. Trump threw a fit on Twitter, and Pence acted like an adult and didn't care. Trump should behave more like Pence.

You said it better that I could have. This is what I intended when I said that Trump is making the office look "small". Stay out the the juvenile pissing matches. You're about to be the most powerful man in the world...don't use it to bully some Broadway cast.
