This reruiting class was going to suck with Charlie. What he was trying to sell recruits and his record were polar opposites....Recruits surely realized this and many already crossed us off their lists...With a new direction we should be able to draw a few back and bring in some talented players.
Regarding Herman and recruiting, and this may sound a bit weird, but he has seriously intent eyes. Fred Akers had that laser like focus and his recruiting prowess was undeniable. Herman seems to have that same, aura, if you will. Of course Mack had his own charm which was highly successful as well. I would say DKR and Mack were similar in that regard, a folksy charm that could win recruits over. Mackovic and McWilliams, not so much. But Akers and Herman have that "glare".
After the PC I wrote TH's a perfectionist with laser focus. What you mention is part of why I said that. He looks dead serious with no screw around or doubt in his eyes. When someone talks with piercing eyes like that, it comes across as brutally honesty, zero doubt, and 100% commitment to what's being said. Intensity is a great thing in football, and the guy looks VERY intense.
You don't know that. Strong recruited well even with a losing record. Why don't you get off Charlies *** already. He's gone. You got your wish. Now it's Hermans team and I'm sure he will recruit just fine.
My next door neighbor and I were talking this afternoon about Herman's press conference, and the first thing I said about him was that he had "steely eyes."
When some news guy was asking him about the various reports regarding LSU, he very frankly told the guy he was not talking to anyone about nothing except the game vs Memphis....! His facial expression and especially his eyes were very intense....all business! Get out of the way, 'we are winning championships'
