Observations from your bitter rival...

Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees and some of you need to pull your heads out of your asses...

The worst thing that's happened in the recent history of the Big 12 is a Baptist school that routinely covered up rapes on campus. The head coach knew about it and actively worked to sweep it under the rug. Said coach gets fired in disgrace and the Chancellor gets demoted when he should have been fired. Then the ******* players wear black to a game the next season to protest the coach's firing. There are no words for how despicable that University is. The situation gets mentioned every single time Baylor plays on television in front of millions of viewers. Baylor is a national disgrace.

Then you have Charlie Strong who danced with your program when all the other hot chicks at the bar kept turning you down. He ran a clean program and Roger Goodell even spent time with Coach Strong to pick his brain about ethics and integrity. What greater compliment could your program have ever gotten?Losing to Kansas? BFD, every team loses on the field in stunning fashion at LEAST every once in a while.

Charlie Strong will get fired soon and you'll have your pick among the best up and coming coaches in the nation and things WILL get better from here in Ws and Ls. At the end of the day your program never came close to those dark places that have infected so many other programs over the years. You can ALWAYS hold your head high about being a Longhorn fan during the Charlie Strong era. That's Charlie's legacy at UT.

From a Sooner fan......and I still hope we kick your asses next year!

    Thanks?

Seriously, though, none of us would want to lose to KU, but I think most of us have already resigned ourselves to what you said, that this will lead to bringing us back to being Texas.

THANKS, for that....I wanted Charlie to succeed more than anything...LOVE the guy and all the things that you mention here...the man was raised right and knows what truly matters...something I hope whomever takes over carries on Charlie's legacy.

    HE did us PROUD!

No coach in the history of Texas football ever went to those dark places. We have had 29 head coaches. I am not sure how not getting the program in trouble and losing more games than the other 28 head coaches that also did not get us in trouble and won more games is an accomplishment. Is that how low society's standards are in 2016? "Well at least our coach was not one of the very few coaches that got their programs in trouble." I mean how many out of 128 D1A programs get in serious Baylor/Penn State scandals? Less than 10? 10 is a high estimate.

Texas has historically always had a clean program. A dirty program would be unprecedented. What is the accomplishment here?

There's more to life than Wins and Losses on the field. Texas fans act like it's the apocalypse right now. Those dark influences can creep into any big program. What's unfortunate is that Coach Strong faces humiliating press conferences when the real ******* coaches skate by or deny their transgressions. Coach Strong shouldn't be judged so harshly.

You missed the part where Texas had 28 previous coaches there were able to do the "there is more to life" part and also win football games. That is why Strong is being judged harshly by me. We get it. You are a sooner and are sorry to see Charlie go. Conversely, I will be very happy whenever Bob Stoops leaves.

IMO this is much more than finding a coach. This problem has to do with the entire administration.

znblitz -- Your head coach since 2000 has lost 10 games at home. Our coach since 2014 has lost 7 at home and 20 overall. I'll agree that moral disgrace is worse than losing, but I believe you can have some integrity and, at a place like UT, have a football team at the top of the conference.

No offense, but the next time we take advice from our bitter rival will be the first time. You should have not fired John Blake, just advice from your bitter rival.

As far as I know The University has made exactly one public statement (AD Mike Perrin) in recent days. The media and some folks on Twitter have turned it into a **** show. Who has humiliated Charlie Strong?
I don't know if he is being "judged" so much as held to a standard for someone who knew very well what the expectations are here and was paid a ridiculous sum of money to do that job. He has failed. Nothing personal, it is business.

No Sabre it still wouldn't be bitter. These fine young men that Charlie has now disguised as football players would want it to be a home and home series with the home team winning each game. Darn, I would be so proud to be a horn fan. As long as they are being fine outstanding citizens, then winning is now secondary at UT....so some people would have you believe when justifying their reasoning for Charlie staying on as coach.

There was a poster in another thread and Ive seen a few on facebook. Of those that keep up with football, probably 1-3%. Of those that do not keep up with football, probably a lot.

First of all, Chicago that was hilarious! But Sangre, all you have to do is read some of the comments from the AAS articles and you will find quite a few people who think he should stay. Sad but true.

Respect to Charlie and Mack. Both great leaders of men. So, instead of "We're Texas" we can all say "We're not Baylor!"

These guys are hired guns and are paid handsomely to uproot their world, come in and do their work and then leave at the drop of a hat with their previously uprooted world. Watching a Football Life show on Bruce Ariens was eye opening on that. I mean we all know it but you take it for granted.

It is my hope that Stoops finds a way to allow Charlie to come in and do a year of rest and reflection much like Bo Pelini did before his next opportunity presents itself. You guys totally need Mike as your DC... :)

    Bubba,

You post started off really nice, but you lost all credibility when you mentioned Strong and Pelini in the same paragraph. You should really stay north of the Red River, because I think Strong has cause to sue you for defamation. Any reasonable and knowledgeable jury would award him everything you have, including your first born, plus punitive damages of at least three times Strong's salary. :beertoast:

And this coming from am Osoner fan? Hah! Think back to the charter given to Gary Gibbs in the late 80s when Barry was forced out - "Gary, clean up this mess, get us off the front page and the crime news, and we'll be happy." Apparently they were not happy with losing to Texas and Nebraska - and Gary was canned. At least you found terrific replacements for him when he was canned - Schnellenberger and Blake. Why don't you guys see if John Blake is still available for ou!

We can agree to disagree. Pelini was an outstanding DC and helped us make it to the National Championship game against LSU. Pelini was an ineffective head man and his demeanor made Mike Stoops look like Tom Landry. I think Strong will find a head job. If not, I'd like to see him come to play for us for a year as a volunteer or Graduate Assistant (while on the UT severance plan, I might add) and see Herman hire Mike. :)

We're you one of the few fans that showed up at OU municipal to welcome home that "POWERFUL" offensive juggernaut after being whipped deservedly in the BCS Championship game? I don't think Sammy still recovered. Poor Minnesota.
