Great move by Baylor and its sanctimonious leadership. Hire a guy whose closest ties to Texas HS coaches is four years in Asheville, NC. Other than those four years, his closest job to Texas was in Philadelphia. Maybe they think his exposure to the State Penn scandal will give him the experience to handle their problems. Career ending move for him, and another step toward the Southland Conference for Baylor.
What is the deal with AAC coaches and the Big XII? Strong (UL was in the AAC when Texas hired Strong) to Texas was a failure; wait and see time for Herman; and now Rhule to Baylor. Beginning to look like a hesitancy of Power 5 coaches to move to the Big XII. If Tech hires from the AAC after canning Kingsbury after next season, we may have our answer. I guess he thinks he can survive by enticing all of those New Jersey and Pennsylvania kids to move to Waco. If he keeps one guy from the current staff = proof that Baylor has learned nothing, and it is business as usual.
Why do we care if Baylor gets a good football coach? This conference needs its share of doormats and I for one am ready for Baylor to return to its rightful place alongside KU and ISU. It's time for TH to capitalize on a down BU and weakening oSU to grab the best TX talent in recruiting. I'm hopeful that is already happening but time will tell.
He's that young buck that running the Temple U program. He played under Joe Paterno. Looks like Baylor's getting rid of all the rapos in exchange for pedos. Strange that.
Just heard on ESPN that his dad was an inner city minister, or something like that. Looks like repairing that place is paramount above winning. Not saying he's not a good coach, but zero Texas ties. How will he recruit?
It seems to be a great catch for Baylor. Baylor is gonna suffer from recruiting because they are Baylor. But not from this guy. This guy is hard nosed and did great things at Temple. Shocked he went there. The good news he probably won't stay.
From an inner-city Catholic school to......well, Baylor. Temple shoved Navy around in that AAC title game, that was AT Annapolis. Had no problems stopping that option attack, which would indicate that either his team is way better than anyone knows, or he and his staff were able to install a defensive game plan in a week for an offense that you don't play but once or twice a year. Now can he recruit and win? Hope not.
If he can win at Temple, I'm betting he can win at Baylor. May take some time though with Baylor's depleted 2016 recruiting class and not much time to put one together for 2017.
Let Baylor have Temple's schedule, and he might win there. Recruitiing? Laughable. My Baptist brethren are counting on a black PK getting into inner city homes and selling the Baptist and Pentecostal mothers on the advantages of a Christian education at the only "true" Christian university that plays bigtime football. Think Jim Wacker without the personalty. When Switzer changed the OU defense to spotlight Bosworth, we put together a betting pool to choose at what point in the game against the convicts would Barry abandon his experiment and try to win. Maybe we should have one on when Rhule leaves or is fired.
I find it funny that a team that had a reputation for breaking rules hired a coach named "Rhule." Perhaps it will go better than it did for the team that had a reputation for being soft, who hired a coach named "Strong."
"Temple University is a publicinstitution that was founded in 1884. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 28,609, its setting is urban, and the campus size is 384 acres. It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar. Temple University's ranking in the 2017 edition of Best Colleges is National Universities, 118."
sounds alot like Lester at LSU, conservative offense and good defense...........we shall see if that plays out in Big 12!
