Deez, it's not worth it. He thinks customers magically arrive at the front door of businesses and that advertising is not necessary.

R35, so this is a one time advertising investment. If it fails miserably he doesn't do it next year. If he insures his employees he has to raise about $90 million in extra PROFITS to cover them over the next ten years. Where do you suppose that money comes from?

Hey, Mr. Deez - don't ever call Roger35 "Roger" - there is a Roger that is a well-informed, intelligent poster, and you must never get the two confused!

    R35?
you just can't stop digging can you?

first you post an opinion article that you thought was FACT; that the 2 million free pizza giveaway will cost papaJohn's 34-36 million.
How could you actually think that?

Then as a rebuttal to me calling you on it you post
"You just won't let FACTS get in the way of your bs, will ya! "

    R35
Be honest do you still think it is FACT that PapaJohns giving away 2 million pizzas will cost the company 24-36 million?

I just looked back on topics from 4 years ago around election time. Same problems then as now. This is some funny stuff and sad all at the same time.

Roger35 is what I think of when I think of liberalism. theiioftx, Horn6721 and Mr. Deez had to set him straight. He probably still doesn't get it to this day.

Just WOW! This is important so please read this. Has anybody else been hit with the price hike of obamacare yet? Here is our situation and I bet most here doesn't even know about this yet. My wife is a financial advisor and she just left a company to go independent. She got a great pay hike but now she is responsible for paying for everything on her own. That shouldn't a big deal right with her nice pay raise? That includes her own insurance. So we had to go look for plans for our family that includes all of us. You by law now have to buy into obamacare or you will have to pay a penalty. If you go buy your own insurance and it's not obamacares hmo program then you will be paying a fine to the government. That fine is not the same for everyone. The more money you make the higher the fine is. So that pay raise is actually going to hurt us. Right now this new law will force you to pay around $900 per family member per year at a minimum (not 100% sure if that its the same for dependents) or you pay 2% of your gross annual salary.... Which ever one is higher. In our case were paying thousands of dollars in penalties if we go get our own insurance. So now we will go buy a crappy plan in obamacare and get this, we will be paying $325 more a month for that crappy insurance than what we were currently paying with a better insurance. It is believe that it will be changed once Trump is in office but that could take until 2018. You guys know what I went through the last time I was on the crappy obamacare stuff with my throat surgery. I ended up paying high premiums and still had to pay out o0f my pocket with none going toward my deductible. I'm now forced again. This is all just sickening. This isn't even American. Trump can't get started soon enough.

I'm actually going to be dealing with this for the first time this year - I got laid off in September, and had chosen not to get insurance through the rest of the year because I knew I couldn't afford to spend money until my employment situation was under control (and the COBRA prices were insane... well over $1,000 per month). I was relieved to learn that at least they only charge you the pro-rated fee for the months you aren't covered, so basically I will owe for three months' lack of coverage. But because I'll likely be doing contract consultancy in 2017, I'll be looking for health care options pretty soon (unless the GOP really quickly!)

I haven't looked into the Texas Exes healthcare plan - does anyone use that?

There was a neighbor millennial at the Thanksgiving party we attended (with beard and all that). He ripped into Obamacare. Had wife and small child. Said he could get better care at much cheaper price through friends who were in the medical industry.

Just curious -- what state are you in? My understanding is that the effectiveness of Obamacare has varied wildly depending on where you live.

My experience in Obamacare has been pretty good. The premium has increased most years, but never a huge jump. Last week, I got a rebate check from the insurer based on 2015-16 profitability, and my premium for next year went down almost 5%. I'm not head-over-heels about the coverage, but it is okay. I have priced coverage outside of Obamacare, but the policies are all more expensive by a large margin (even before factoring in the penalty).

UPDATE: My wife just texted this.

"Heath insurance: We can't do a group plan. Have to proceed with individual health insurance. So that means even higher rates. Get back with you on this."

This is the $#*ts. I'll have to get the details on this now.

The numbers are in. We're now paying $1469.00 monthly for Obamacare. We lost our vision and dental coverage from our plan before. We looked up what we were paying in 2007. $521. You want reasons why Trump won? Here's one right here.

Wow, that's pretty staggering. My premiums have not gone up too much but my employer has changed insurance companies and been pushing high deductible insurance pretty hard.

There aren't a lot of ways for them to distinguish themselves as being men in their circles, the only way many of them can acceptably "act manly" is to wear a beard.

Mrs. Deez actually did make be grow a beard, but it's not a scraggly mess like the millennial hipsters grow. It's short. I still don't like it though - sorta feels like having a rat duct taped to my face.

I basically self-insured in the wake of having been lied to by the POSPotUS about being able to keep a policy I was happy with...I just had my first incident in which insurance could potentially have been in play.

Auto accident (hit from behind), lower back issues...I have now had a set of x-rays, an MRI AND six days of treatment PLUS a referral to a 'pain management clinic' that came with three prescriptions. Because all three locations ditched participation in obummercare plans, they offer cash prices. My total thus far is barely $1,250.00. The initial appointment with the PMC and the prescriptions represent almost half of my outlay in these past two weeks.

Had I been on an obummercare plan, I still would not have hit the lowest deductible on anything I could afford and I would still have been spending close to $9K on it this year alone. I make too much to qualify for subsidies.

Just another datapoint regarding costs and why Trump won...

In Texas, it's usually not a good idea to use health insurance to cover your medical expenses due to an auto accident anyway. You end up getting hosed on both ends.

Listening to all the horror stories of purchasing insurance independently reinforces my goal to ensure I continue to get it through whatever company I work for as long as possible. My wife covers herself and our kids through the school district and I carry a high deductible plan because I rarely go to the doctor.

True enough...and one way or another, all of my expenses would be covered once the claim is resolved by the carrier for the agency that hit me.

However, my point was that I am actually spending LESS by NOT having insurance than I would have been if I DID have one of the policies pushed by the POSPotUS.

The purpose of insurance is to protect you against risks you can't otherwise afford to absorb. My family's policy caps our exposure at $500 per day and roughly $14k per year. I think these are the highest permissible caps nationally, but maybe it is just New Jersey -- not sure. In any event, I am willing to pay premiums in order to have this top-end protection, not for smaller expenses here and there.

In fact, the only situation in which any health insurance (Obamacare or otherwise) is ever profitable is when you have a major expense. When you get hospitalized for a week or more and get a bill for $100k+, or have surgery that costs many times more than that, you come out way ahead if you are insured. Otherwise, you inevitably always come out behind. In fact, that's the way it is supposed to work.

And by the way, you do realize that calling President Obama the POSPotUS makes you look worse, not him, right?
