They posted the times of the regional in Austin this upcoming week: http://www.texassports.com/news/2016/12/4/no-4-volleyball-ncaa-regional-site-times-announced.aspx That's a head scratcher. I thought that the higher ranked, home team would be played in the later game so that home fans could you know....get off work and be able to attend the game. The whole reason regionals were given to the top 4 remaining seeds was so TV shots wouldn't show mostly empty venues. I'm taking off half a day as well as my wife in order to go...but it'll be sad that Gregory will be half full because you know....people are usually at work at 3:00 pm on a Friday.
Just watched Jerrit's press conference: http://www.texassports.com/index.aspx?path=wvball And when he was asked about how the other coaches liked the new Regional hosting format, he said that it wasn't well thought out. Then he said that all 4 regions are in Central Time, thus forcing odd schedules. He said Nebraska has their pass-and-serve practice at 7:30 am on Friday. Then I looked up their schedule and they're scheduled to play their game at 11:00 am. Sheesh! And Jerrit did mention that he's hoping that people can get a "sick day" to come and fill out Gregory. He said that this format will be definite voted on again. And then later on he griped about Nebraska having to play at 11:00. Good watch. I would recommend it.
Fantastic win for the 'Horns after going up 2-0 over BYU, dropping the next two sets, and then rallying from a tremendous hole to take the 5th! Next up, Creighton.
Absolutely the most amazing comeback I've ever seen in VB. I was yelling at all the dumb things we did to lose the match and then down by 6 in the final set we finally start doing the things that got us up 2-0. I have no idea what our strategy was in sets 3 & 4, or if just dink it over and hope the other team lets it fall to the ground is a strategy.
Creighton beat Kansas, so we better not play like we did in set 3,4, and first 15 or so points of 5th set or we will be done. From watching the regionals across the country, you better bring your A game or get spanked. Everyone is good at this point. I have tickets to this regional final...I was sick when we lost those sets and got down to a point of nearly no return in set 5.....SMH......I was about to get on the phone and see if any of my friends wanted to see Creighton/Mich vs BYU final......LOL
In the 5th set when they were in the hole at 5-0, I had my head in my hands thinking, "Well, this team just wasn't ready for it this year. Another totally unexpected defeat by BYU." At the point where the BYU coach called her timeout, I thought, "Okay. No more timeouts. It's all in the hands of the players. The side who wants it more, will win." While that last sentence is typical coach-speak fluff, seeing the back row laying out for digs really re-enforced how badly they wanted it. Just hit it hard ladies, hit it hard!
I am so proud of Texas Volleyball! That was the greatest comeback I've ever seen in college volleyball.
