An all timer for MNC games. Rates up there with another last minute comeback from a few years ago that I enjoyed even more than this one.
As a defense, I don't know how you can possibly defend those pick plays. Switch man assignments like basketball?
Great game to watch - lots of ebb and flow both directions. Glad to see Clemson come up with the final drive for the winning score.
It was a great game to watch, especially for an impartial fan for each of these teams. Clemson wore out that great Alabama defense. In some ways it was a great example of them shift to these up-tempo offenses. For all of the accolades heaped on that 'Bama defense, I'm surprised they didn't have more depth or at least weren't willing to use it. Scarborough going down really changed the entire complexion of the game.
Yea those picks are almost impossible to defend, although I thought the Clemson receiver was just trying to brush the defender and continue running inside. The Bama player initiated contact when he grabbed him and shoved him to the ground. Good no call imo.
They sold it well but I don't think in either TD's the Clemson shielding player was merely trying to "brush" the defender. The Bama defender initiated contact because their only hope of stopping that play was to jam Legget (the TE) at the LOS allowing the man defender free passage over the top of the pick. The NE Patriots did this when Seattle tried the same thing in the Superbowl a few years back. NE CB Brandon Browner mauled Seahawks WR Kearse at the LOS allowing the other NE DB to quickly react to the other WR cutting underneath the "pick" WR.
Good call. I'll split the 100k prize with you. All you have to do is collect it. I'll come to Austin when you get it and pick up my part.
That's what makes it a good no call. The wr are allowed to run routes. If the defense decides to initiate contact, that's on them.
I can't comment on the merits of that last play officiating since I didn't watch the game, only highlights. I will say I am totally stoked Buma lost! I've come to depise that team and all the favoritism they pick up from ESPN and the media. The underdog rightly won this time.
