That seems to make sense to me. I didn't understand the suggestion that the B-2 was chosen for some nefarious reason.

This strike was coordinated with Libyan democratic leaders on the ground. So, at least the groups we want to prevail in the battle for Libya knew we were coming.

Libya doesn't have much of a IAD. B52s could have done the same thing. I'm curious about the B2 usage, too. We always have a carrier in/near the Med. Or has Obama pulled that to remove any quick-response "ability" to support Israel there, too?

The B2 is for targeting fixed production sites deep into China and Russia. Libya is a relatively low-threat environment.

Shaw, even a 4-ship of Hawgs could have done what the B2 did ... then CNN would have had time to scramble and tell investigative tales about the struggles of aircraft maintaining altitude with empty fuel tanks. :p

Maybe the AF wanted a chance to play with their relatively new toys in a live environment?

I see he commuted the sentences of another 330 druggies on his last day in office. Yahoo says "he saw the injustice". I suppose that means they're overwhelmingly black.

In all he doled out over 1700 pardons. That's not including all the terrorists he let out of Cuba. It would be interesting to know how many innocent people will eventually die as a result of BO's largesse.

Maybe they don't want to put more hours on those 52 airframes unless they absolutely have to! Hehe.

I guess you could use Hawgs...but then you would have to give air medals to like 8 KC-10 gas passer crews.

When daddy gets home tomorrow he's going to be mad, mad.

The neighbors let a foreigner into the house and he tried to destroy it. He stole the credit card and spent $10trillion on something no one can locate, pissed off our favorite neighbors, snuck down to the jail and left the cell doors open, lied by telling everyone in the hood he had a way to reduce their health insurance costs and get them jobs, lost a substantial portion of our guns, walked around saying things like Marine "Corpse", flipped off the police when they were trying to help, and let a bunch of illegals into the backyard. Somebody's going to get an *** whipping.

I know while I was deployed to Al Udeid they had B-1s based there. They probably could have done this mission and have the ability to fly in low make their strike and boogie on out of there.

The reason they used the B-2 is probably due to justification of spending money on the program. Also, have to give those officers/pilots a chance to "excell" in a combat environment. They don't want to be left behind from their other pilot peers.

I imagine that the mission was somewhere between 36 to 40 hours and had 3 or 4 ARs (air refueling). What's cool is that the crew gets speed pills (aka go pills) for these missions. There is only one crew that fly the plane, so they have to stay awake the whole time. That would suck! I know because I am former aircrew.

Opportunity for award/decs are maximized ... but I doubt the career of the crew executing the order was of any consequence to the decision in frag-building.

Now ... making the outgoing administration seem less linguine-spined? .... Oh yeah, BIG opportunity.

speed is authorized after the pilots are first removed from the flight schedule and take the prescribed dosage, then debrief with the flight doc, who annotates his approval/rejection. The use of the drugs during flight operations is completely at the discretion of the pilot.

I never knew a guy who took the drug after the mandated pre-deployment evaluation. Maybe life on a tanker was different. I found strategic use of caffeine to be plenty sufficient --- oh ... and tunes. One crew on a jet plenty large enough for relief is a failure of the AF. Big risk with a "20 million plane, Lt" never mind accomplishing the mission.

As of the close of business on Wednesday, Obama had added ~$9,335,000,000,000 to the debt.

He's still president. Did he say something that makes you think there won't be more today?

Correct. He personally drafted the budgets, and then rammed them through a Congress that let him do whatever he wanted.

I had forgotten how much BO "misreprented" reality. Of course some will say he believed obamacare would actually lower costs and allow people to keep their doc etc. If he really did believe that he was stupider than his supporters felt. I remember one of key architects admitting they counted on fooling the people.

Thank God!This is a great day for our country.
Ironic that many of the people that will benefit from the jobs being added are people the haters say President Trump is against.

Obama's parting gift to Trump is that the economy is objectively in a much better position than when he entered office in 2009.

    Finally ... he's gone.

NOW ... it's time for the GOP to put up or shut up. I predict they do neither.

Luckily he's on a helicopter heading out of Washington and Trump is calling the shots.

He may have believed it in 2008. By 2012, the legislation had passed, and he knew what the truth was.

And Trump is starting lower than them all at 40%. Day 1 of a POTUS tenure is generally their high point. LOL!

If effective ... it was CHEAP.

PROBABLY gonna be a lot more of that in the near future. If done effectively ... that TOO will be CHEAP. A LOT less costly than another 3000 lives lost.

    ATTACK!
