Vol Horn 4 Life Good Bye To All The Rest!

This is his 10th Season so let's get an update on his career:

    This year:
    Saves - 23 (6th this year)
    ERA - 1.13
    WHIP - .78

    Career:
    Saves - 257 (31st all time)
    ERA - 2.87
    WHIP - 1.02

Assuming he'll end with 40 saves this year and if he continues his rate of averaging about 27 saves per year he'll be in the top 10 in all time saves in four years.

Where he ends up will obviously depend on longevity especially since there are currently three active players ahead of him.

He should end up with over 400 saves landing him ahead of the likes of Dennis Eckersly, Troy Percival, Rollie Fingers, Randy Myers, Jeff Reardon, Francisco Cordero, etc.

If he plays long enough he could push to over take Billy Wagner, John Franco and Lee Smith. Doubtful he'll get close to Trevor Hoffman or Mariano Rivera with over 600 saves etc.

I understand the dedicated closer is a fairly new position, but still amazing company.

    Nice job Huston!!

It's great to have seen all that fine young man's games at the Disch and a fair number elsewhere.

I remember after Huston's first game at the Disch, his father told me in the tunnel behind the third base dugout that Huston would be a better college pitcher than he (James) was. I didn't believe him at the time, but James was certainly prophetic.

Nice update to the thread. Hopefully Vol Horn will use this opportunity to update us on Huston's progress toward the top 10.
