WVU has played well and Iowa State is trying to pull this one out against Purdue after being behind by a bunch early...

damn...thought they might pull it out. Too many failures to capitalize in the last minute giving up long rebounds.

I disagree with your analysis of the Kansas loss. Self made all the moves to bring Kansas back. The problem was that their shooters looked like the 2017 'Horns from 3 point range. Graham was ice cold, all games. He had the open looks and did not make one as I recall. Self does not shoot he ball. He puts the team in the position to win, the just could not shoot that night. I totally disagree with you on this one.

Self's record speaks for its "Self". I would trade head coaches in a New York minute.

I have noticed the media has started a Mack Brown/Rick Barnes smear campaign of suddenly irrationally declaring that Bill Self's accomplishments are mediocre. He has been the Kansas head coach for 14 years. He has made the Elite 8 seven times. That means he takes Kansas to the Elite 8 every other year. He has won 13 consecutive Big 12 titles and a national title. Before Kansas, he took Tulsa and Illinois to the Elite 8.

One of those sports facts fans do not comprehend is nearly every elite coach, if not every coach, has a losing record against the top 10. Self's 2-5 record is about right for any elite coach facing the other top 7 teams in the country.

Personally, I agree with oldhorn65, and would be perfectly fine with Kansas firing Self and Texas hiring him. As long as Self is at Kansas, they have the Big 12 locked down. To put that in perspective, Rick Barnes's 3 regular season Big 12 titles are more than any non-Kansas Jayhawks Big 12 coach or school have. Self has locked down the conference and produces a top 8 team every other year. As long as he continues to do that, it is more likely he wins future national titles than does not win another title.

Tom Osborne was the Nebraska head football coach 21 years before winning a 3 national titles in 4 years. Jim Boeheim won for 27 years at Syracuse before winning a national title. There are 300+ other basketball schools and 100+ other football schools trying to win a national title. No matter how elite your coach is, things have to fall into place perfectly (no injuries for example) to win it all. If that was not the case, coaches like Saban or Coach K would win every year. As long as your coach has your team consistently winning in the top 25 and competing for a national title every year, you are in position for when things do fall into place and chances are they will.
