Aggy will do okay in the SEC

And so what? All it will prove is that the SEC is ridiculously overrated.
I read and hear comments all the time like "have fun having your asses handed to you every week in the SEC" as if that is at all different from what's happened for 15 years in the Big 12. Why can't they average 6 wins a year over there (I'm guessing that that's about what they averaged in the B12)?

aggy went 110-85 in the 15 years they were part of the Big XII ... with one championship and 2 championship game appearances.

That's a winning pct of 56.4 for all games (OOC included). They were 46-26 through the first 4 years of Big XII existence and 64-59 over the last 11 years.

They'll never ever win the West and play for the conference championship and it's not likely they'll have a stretch where they go anywhere near 46-26 so guessing they finish 6-6ish(for life) in the SEC seems about right.

Ultimately their new rival will be Mississippi State. They will beat them occasionally and say their dog is better than Miss State's dog.

It will be the Dog Rivalry.

The question is not if aggy will ever make it to the SEC championship game, but if they will make it to a bowl game again. They sucked in the Big 12 and out of their own mouths they say the conference sucks.

Next year, the average score for aggy vs sec will be a 45-17 loss. They will win one conference game and talk will begin that Sumlin is not the right guy for the sec.

Last year, the Big 12 was, top-to-bottom, a better conference than the SEC (just barely), so A&M may average about the same wins and losses in conference. The problem is, the SEC (especially the SEC West) is very top-heavy: the last six BCS Champions have all come from the SEC, and four of those were from the SEC West. At one point this season, LSU, Alabama, and Arkansas all occupied the top three in the BCS standings. So A&M may not get killed every week, but they will have a lot of trouble getting into the top tier of the conference.

maybe to lsu and alabama, but they are capable of beating everyone else. They barely lost to Arkansas this year who was an overrated #3 in the country. Most of the other teams in the SEC stink.

I'm not sure who this "aggy" is that keeps getting mentioned, but...

If you're talking about the institute of higher farming over in collie station, I agree that six is the optimum number of wins they can expect in any football season for the next twenty years or so. My crystal ball doesn't project beyond that.

It's true that top to bottom, the SEC is overrated. However, the SEC West is NOT. 'Bama, Auburn, LSU, and most years the swine can be expected to be anywhere from very good to great, and one of those teams at least will almost always be great.

'Ole Miss State isn't an easy out these days...they're improving under Dan Mullins, and recruiting now better than they have since Jackie Sherrill was around. That leaves 'Ole Miss, and who knows what they'll do in the next two or three years with their new coach.

Out of that bunch, 'Ole Miss is the only one that agricultural is guaranteed to be on a level playing field with. Maybe they pick up a win or two against the weaker SEC east, but even there, they'd have to contend with a much better Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, a better Mizzou, so maybe they can beat Kentucky, and Vandy, although Vandy's getting a lot better under James Franklyn.

The farm college is going into the SEC with a pretty good offensive line, and a lot of questions otherwise, and their recruiting class for this year isn't looking as good as it did several weeks ago. Sorry...I haven't seen that recruiting bump SEC membership was supposed to bring 'em. What I have seen is a bunch of Texas high school coaches who now think aggy is barely a TEXAS college anymore.

Yeah...I'd say six wins a year...as long as they can schedule some directional schools and a bunch of teams from the WAC and C-USA, or whatever that conference is gonna be called after it merges with the Mountain West.

Nobody over there wants to hear it, but this is an incredibly dumb move...kinda the ultimate aggy joke.

I don't like the move. Of course, the only conference realignment that I wanted was a reformation of the SWC. In the Big 12 the only games I ever cared about were against the other Texas schools.

That said, its not necessarily a bad move. A&M will get more money, particularly from the proposed SEC network. A&M will get a secure league. And most importantly, A&M will be in the league it chose, versus being forced into something else.

Let me explain that last part. I believe that the Longhorn Network spooked A&M. Not because of the money or high school stuff, but because it represented an opportunity for UT to go independent. Realistically speaking, if UT went independent, the Big 12 would become the Mountain West in terms of prestige. Less money, lower profile - not good. Also, without UT, all of the sudden A&M is Texas Tech's "Big Brother". They would be part of a package deal in any move A&M made. Which means that A&M would probably be forced to stay in a weakened Big-12 or (longshot) be in some configuration of the Pac-16. Neither would be good longterm for A&M.

IMO that reasoning, plus the legislature being out of session, is why A&M left the league when it did.

Viperhorn, that's a foolish statement. For one thing none of those schools have a network similar to the LHN.

For another thing, if there wasn't going to be an SEC network, why would the SEC want A&M and Missouri? If the SEC wanted to expand just to expand there are more attractive schools already in their footprint - like FSU. But why would they even expand without a network? Its not like their football brand needed assistance.

Finally, the SEC prides itself on its all for one & one for all attitude.

RUS - I would assume that all of the SEC schools have contracts for some or all of their Tier 3 rights. But the $ estimates that I've seen for an SEC Network dwarf what the individual schools could make by themselves.

You have a good point about the SEC wanting the Texas and Missouri markets for tier 1 and 2 negotiations. But those same demographics are reasons why a Tier 3 league network is just a matter of time.

IMG? What are you talking about? IMG brokered the ESPN deal. In 2009, according to USA Today, UT made 338k in broadcast TV internet radio rights. Texas will continue to pay a licensing fee to IMG. Now UT will make more than $338k for those rights.

they'll do okay in the sec sec sec because they have NO CLASS. my nephew is a sports writer and says that covering UT games is great - the press gets a buffet spread like The Four Seasons, then he goes to aggy and they serve Subway sandwiches. hahaha

Hey Proposition Joe I know we are going to be in different conderences but I hope you keep us informed about what is going on there in Aggie Land. As you may have read in our 1941 team posts we have lost all the team now and I wonder if there are any left on your 1939 NC team. I personally knew one member of that team and pm me if interested.
