Second weekend in a row with an opportunity to make a statement; glad it is at DF.

Hell, one of three against No. 6 after a good 6 game run should do it.

Texas drops opener 2-1 as the Horns can only muster two hits on the night. The Texas offense never showed up and Tech had just enough offense to win a tight pitchers duel.

I had a brutal 2 days, so when I got home and turned on the game, 3rd inning in progress, found my self dozing off just sitting on the couch. So went to bed.

Woke up for a spell just in time to fire up the cellie at bedside to use the game tracker for 8th/9th innings. So my comments are based on what I guess happened based on that info and not watching it on TV.

Tceh is a legitimate top 10 team. The Horns took them to the wire, down 2-1, with pinch runners for all the speed we could get at 1st and 3rd, hot pinch batter in McCann at the plate. Just didn't happen.

A wild pitch, passed ball, balk, single, extra base hit....game tied or over. Just didn't happen.

Pierce seemed to make all the right moves at the end. Just didn't happen.

Got two more games today and tomorrow --- C'MON HORNS, HOOK 'EM!!!

this series has been tough so far! Only score we have today is from double sand aggy errors! sigh. I suppose TT is a contender this year, but good grief, I'm not accustomed to seeing so much struggle.

yeah, OK ... big surprise ... I've been out of the loop on the diamond. Had a RARE opportunity to sit down and watch the replay of yesterday just prior to today's game live.

Life happens, right? I was asking more about TT ... are they really a legit #6? I know this is Pierce's first year ... but Texas has historically NOT had an elder team, so player development isn't/hasn't been much of a factor in Texas' success.

Frustrating game yesterday and today but for a young team that is going to happen. Getting a win tomorrow and finishing this week 2-2 against a pair of top 20 teams can still be a huge step forward.

Horns cant find any Sunday magic and drop the series finale 8-5, there is no shame in getting swept by the number 6 team in the country when you are in a rebuild like the Horns are. This was a measuring stick series and the Horns know now what they will need to compete for Omaha again.

No excuse for starting a .135 hitter over a .440 hitter....The first two losses are square on the coaching staff for SMH stupid personnel choices...
That being said, its a positive that we played the #6 team in the country tough...especially handicapped by poor coaching decisions.

Beating Aggy was nice, but they got swept by a basketball school in Kentucky, so they weren't all that. We have two great starters, but a very suspect pen. We can't score much vs good pitching and defense. we should win a series or two, but will probably get swept one or two more times. We are probably a .500 team in conference. Pierce better recruit out of his mind and start playing the guys who are the better hitters if he wants to keep his job any length of time.

TTU has a very strong pitching staff. I watched all or most of all 3 games and the highest ERA I ever saw was 2.70 - most were under 2. We are a light hitting team and we wilt when faced with really good pitching. We held up really well defensively and they only had one game where they really took it to us with their bats (Sunday). The only thing we are missing is hits with RISP and we can be really good.

Hitting above .230 range would be nice, too.

Yeah somewhere north of the Mendoza line, and way north of on the interstate.

they are all giddy up here on the high plains---several times, and not necessarily during the sports segment, it was mentioned during the 6 o'clock news that they swept Texas in a series for the VERY FIRST TIME. One of the announcers said that the series had been played 43 times and it had never been a 3 game sweep for tceh. Need some upperclassmen to step up and someone teach those boys how to hit...

No matter how good the coaching is, you cannot turn a non-hitting team into a hitting team in a half of a season. With the exception of the last three games of the Stanford series the defense has been much improved and for the most part the pitching been there.

Its gonna take Pierce at least one more good class if not 2 to get the bats where they need to be.

This game vs TSU @ SM should be interesting. They took 2 of 3 from the defending NCAA Champs....But its all about pitching on Tuesdays, and I don't think they will have their best going against our bats. I figure the Horns should win a close one.
