I will not be supporting any other team from Texas in the elite 8. I'm not in denial..... Longhorns only...its how I roll
I don't care how much we need shooters, rebounders etc...This will be my team

I'm pulling for Mississippi State all the way. Vic Schaeffer has done a tremendous job bringing that program up to its current state.

Well, it was Morgan Williams vs. Baylor, and Morgan Williams won. I don't remember seeing a performance like that. Baylor didn't look good at all, except for Brown and Davis. Though Baylor has an amazing post game, I think they emphasized it too much. At least tonight, there was just wasn't any balance at all. They should have gotten more shots for Prince. It wasn't the same Jones we have often seen. Baylor would probably have a better shot at beating UConn, but I don't think either one would have much of a shot. But, on any given night...

Life is good. So glad to see Baylor lose and fall short of the Final Four again.

The entertainment on the BaylorFans.com message board is very lively; they are eating their own tonight.

So you make it to the Final Four and you play UCONN. Will they win by 20? 30?
Would love to see them dethroned but they are at another level.

Now if MSU could somehow pull out a miracle and beat UConn (if Oregon doesn't first).

Yep, some very "un-Christian-like" comments over there. First all the wailing about getting beat by a "half-pint", "midget" and then "Coach should have made adjustments" and the "loss is on Mulkey". Very entertaining.

Did anyone notice KM go over to the shorter male assistant, after a made basket by Jones, and bang on the clipboard in his lap? Poor man looked terrified. Really feel like there has been some infighting in that program this season. Nothing I can prove, just gut feelings from observations made throughout the season.

Well, went 0-5 against the Final Four participants (Stanford, Miss. State, UConn, South Carolina, and Stanford).

And 2-1 against Elite 8 schools (Baylor, FSU, Baylor)

Yes, and to our credit, we played all the Final Four teams in our non-conference schedule BY CHOICE. We also played six of the Elite Eight.
I don't know that I'd schedule a game in the middle of Big 12 play again, but I'm glad we got the exposure for having one of the toughest schedules in the nation. I hope it continues in coming seasons.
According to the selection committee, we went as far into the post-season as we were "supposed" to. There were other teams who didn't accomplish that... Baylor was one of them. :hookem2:

You know, the flagrant foul called on Dillingham in OT paled in comparison to that forearm to the throat Kia Nurse delivered to Morgan William toward the end of the of the 1st quarter. Not sure why that one wasn't reviewed; they had called it a regular foul, but didn't lead to free throws as MSU was not yet in the Bonus. Failure to review that call (and not giving MSU free throws) was huge is game may have ended up not even needing OT (assuming one or two free throws are made by William).

That would have bothered me had UConn won. But, Saniya Chong made a bonehead play by driving to the basket way too early and losing the ball out of bounce with 12 seconds left in OT.

Other than MSU winning tonight, the best part of the evening may have been when I was flipping channels during commercials and stopped on ESPNU to check out the A&M at LSU baseball game. They showed Kim Mulkey in the stands; her son plays baseball for LSU. So, instead of attending the Final Four in Dallas where most of the Division I college coaches were tonight (including Coach Aston), Mulkey went elsewhere.

Honestly, if UConn had not routed MSU by 60 points last year in the Sweet 16, I don't think MSU pulls it out tonight. It was a huge motivational factor for MSU.

Just like Baylor has routed some undermanned teams this season, UConn has done the same for many years. Granted, they can do that (it's not against the rules), but for some coaches, good sportsmanship is more important than draining 3 pointers when you are up 50+ points in the fourth quarter.

I understand if a foul is called, and there's a review to determine whether or not it may be flagrant. But a review of a play where NO CALL was made by any of the refs who were looking right at it -- not to.mention reviewing it after possession had already changed twice -- is complete BS. I wish they'd tweak that rule.

So are you suggesting Coach Aston should be somewhere else or her actions are not as noble as Mulkey's or what? Not sure where you are going with that quite honestly.

The announcers needed to get a clue. A #2 seed beating #1 seed is NOT "the biggest upset in the history of the game."

That said, it's good to see UConn go down even if it means an all SEC final.

And Geno's comments that his team lacked maturity at this level is comical. What other team had the level of experience that his team had? You played in the friggin last 10 Final Fours. The team that beat you lost to you by 60 in the sweet 16 a year earlier. :rolleyes1:

You really did miss my point.

I'm saying that Mulkey couldn't bring herself to attend the Final Four since her team wasn't there. Probably all other D-I head coaches, including Coach A who tweeted about being there, were in attendance. I think there is also a convention for the head coaches.

She attends plenty of her son's baseball games during the offseason (as the TV cameras show her in the stands). This was just an SEC series; not any kind of playoff game or championship battle. Plenty of more baseball games for her to possibly attend after this weekend. Obviously, if Baylor was in the Final Four she'd have been in Dallas and not in Baton Rouge. Just my opinion.

That was exciting... happy for MSU. It doesn't surprise me that much. Somebody was going to beat UConn pretty soon, though maybe not this year. Tulane and FSU came close. And of course we played them well until the fourth quarter. Vic Schafer apparently had the perfect game plan, slowing the game down the way he did. The best part is not to have to hear the media hype about Uconn's record for yet another year. They are still a great team. I think we have a good chance against them when they come here next year. We have done our home and home with MSU. Does anyone know if that is now over, or if they will be on our schedule for next year? I wonder the same about Stanford. I assume S. Carolina will come here next year, as the second half of a home and home series.

No, South Carolina played here this year as part of Big 12 / SEC Challenge. We play at Georgia next season as our road game for that challenge.

We could still go play at South Carolina and begin a non-conference series with them as they will be a top program for a while. Plus, will allow Jatarie a chance to play close to home.

Seems like we've been playing Stanford every year for quite a while; would assume that series continues. Same with Tennessee.

No idea about Miss. State; I'm sure Vic would love for it to continue so he can come to Texas (and recruit) ever year, especially in a season when they don't play at A&M for SEC game.

Won't surprise me if we end up scheduling a series with Mizzou so Sutton can play in her home state.

If we plan to recruit California, we should play there every season (like alternating UCLA and Stanford).

Can't really compare last year's UCONN team with this one but whose fault is it they don't have the maturity? Maybe the guy that played seniors last season for 30 minutes a game when they were up by 50 rather than getting the younger players more time? Geno is a great coach and accomplished something that will never be equaled in the women's game but he made this bed.
