Brock was a gamble that didn't pay off. Texans trade a 2018 second rounder for lots of salary cap space today. Browns turn salary cap space into a draft pick. Heck, as bad as Brock played last year in Houston, his ineptitude would hardly seem remarkable to Browns fan who haven't seen good home team quarterback play since Art Modell owned the franchise that became the Ravens.

    Romo.

They are going to try to replace a horrible young QB with an older, experienced QB who is as fragile as a china doll.

Sounds like an old David Bowie song. Cleveland has become the place where QB careers go to die.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

Osweiler's career was dead in Denver. What made the Texan's front office pay him such a ridiculous salary is beyond me. Colossal stupidity.

    Osweiler ever had a career?

The same overwhelming ignorance that caused them to use the #1 pick on a DL who wasn't even the best on his college team, who took not just plays but series and quarters off; the same ignorance that had them use their first pick to choose a DL whose college coach passed on him the pick before; the same ignorance that caused them to draft a QB that was dumber than a bag of hair, and whose IQ was a number less than his waist size. How Smith has a job that doesn't require him to continuously ask, "where do you want this box" is beyond me.

Again, there is more than one reason I refer to them as the "Kirby Kretin Korp".

Word is that the NFL has put the deal on hold pending drug testing...

If Romo goes to Cleveland he will get killed, seriously. Don't do it Romo.

If Romo goes to Denver, he will get killed there also

Another option is to retire and go into the booth. He'd be a hero for life in Dallas, be great at it, still be involved in the NFL and make a ton of money for as long as he wants.

This is why you do not dwell in the rare air of successful and respected brand pimp executives.

Are you saying that kickbacks are alive and well on Kirby Drive?

the fail rate of taking another team's relatively untested backup has to be high. paying huge bucks for one is ridiculously stupid.

The Texans will NEVER have a decent QB until they remove the VY curse that is upon them.

Firing Kubi-aggy was an attempt at penance. Firing Rick Smith will satisfy the gods and will remove the curse.

As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I thought "Either the Browns or 49ers must have done this..."

Rumor has him replacing Phil Sims, but those are awfully SMALL shoes to fill.

No truth to the rumor that the contract exempted him from showing up for the post-season...

If it REALLY has to be explained, then you haven't followed his performance through the years...

Or it means that he has followed it more closely than most and not just gone along with the ha ha ha narrative.
