Texas v Texas State 4.11.17

Horns host Texas State tonight in a midweek game looking to get some revenge for that 11-10 loss down in San Marcos last month. This is the second of three midweek games with the Bobcats as the Horns will see them again a week from today as well.

 

The only way Texas will get into the postseason is to win the Conference Tournament. They need to get their faecal matter together starting tonight.

 

Viper, I am not sure I agree that the Horns will have to win conference tourny to get in. They sit at 22-13 (6-6 conf) and with 20 games left could easily get to 36 or 37 regular season wins and if they are at or better than .500 in conference which is a tall task to be sure with TCU, WVU, Baylor and Okie State left, but not impossible for this team, then they could easily be an at large 2 or 3 seed in a regional. Texas currently sits in fifth in the conference and the Big XII is good enough this year to get 5 teams into the tournament. To be sure though they absolutely need to finish strong over these last 20 and as you say keep their fecal stuff together.

 

I hope you are right FW. While the 1 run games might speak for - the occasional pitching and hitting meltdowns are big reasons against. Winning the ou series should help some, but the big black eye that was losing the Kansas series isn't going to help. They almost have to win the Baylor and TCU Series.

 

Horns win 9-2. Big series with Baylor starts Thursday in Waco.
