    needs his own thread.

An insider close to Bamba is saying Kentucky is no longer the odds on favorite. A previous article posted after the Nike Hoops Summit quotes Bamba saying the team he'll go to will be the one with the coach he has the "best chemistry with". I think this puts Shaka in the driver seat since he worked closely with Bamba during team USA FIBA championship last summer. Bamba has said repeatedly when discussing the key attributes of each school recruiting him that he really identifies with Shaka Smart and respects his coaching ability and the way he treats his players. Shaka has done a good job keeping in front of him passively, throughout the recruiting process. If we land this one and done, he could arguably be the most influential one year player we've had since KD. Im just putting this out in the universe - I like Texas' chances of landing him.

Bam Adebayo has signed with an agent, meaning KY is in full reload mode. Is that a plus or minus for Bamba?

    Good question.

I think Bam declaring and contracting an agent was a foregone conclusion, but it could hurt us. If anything, I fear the influence of his ex AAU teammate Quade Green. He's really revved up his recruitment of Mo. But something stands out to me about him. He seems like a cerebral kid that values education and cultural experience, not just hoop dreams and money - a lot like Jarret Allen in that respect (who obviously shocked us all at the last minute by signing with Texas over the obvious front runner Kansas).

“You want to look [at a lot of] beyond basketball stuff, what the university can give me.
Whether it’s one year or four, I definitely want a degree from whatever university it is, whether that means coming back for summer sessions or whatever. I am definitely looking beyond basketball.”

Kevin Knox to Kentucky was a huge blow to our recruiting of Bamba.

According to Knox's father, he and Mo are very close and talk every day. It's looking like Shaka and Co. are going to have to get things done the old fashioned way next year.

He'll probably wait until the last minute. To which I say take your time young man.

“A lot of people always make comments about the rich getting richer with Kentucky or Duke’s recruiting,” Bamba said at the McDonald’s All-American game in late March.

And when people make those comments?

“I laugh. There is a significant difference between greed and hunger,” he said. “When you’re greedy, you just want things that you don’t really need. When you’re hungry for things, you kind of need it.”

This quote from Bamba, taken from post McDAA game, featured in Courier-Journal online yesterday; perhaps gives the best insight into Bamba's character and intentions.

I can't help but read wayyyy into his quote and hop back on the Texas bandwagon to get him.:hookem:
