Having lost a brother to CTE (former player at Arkansas who committed suicide after turning into a person none of us knew anymore), the fact that AH's brain is now basically being held hostage by the ME for an autopsy, doesn't pass the smell test. By all accounts he was a freak of nature athlete at Bristol Central High School, whose problems didn't show up until he was at Gainesville.
By no means am I attempting to make any excuses for a kid that suddenly turned into a wannabee gangster, with a trail of body bags in his wake. But a disinterested examination of the brain for CTE, would benefit the living. Nothing can undo what has happened. But the NCAA and the NFL got big problems potentially if an autopsy shows traumatic brain injuries that are only 8-10 years old.
The notes from my brother's autopsy showed injuries to the brain in excess of 30 years old. That would have been consistent with when he was winning a Sugar Bowl at Arkansas.
Again offering AH no slack or excuses. But if CTE contributed to his abhorrent acts, that needs to be known.
