I agree... I will say that, although we've lost a player here and there (and will lose more as time goes on) it seems that Aston recruits very strategically so that classes aren't overloaded with too much talent at the same position for more than one or two "overlap" years -- quite the opposite of Baylor and some others (SC) who stockpile the talent at the same positions then only let a couple of players have all the minutes while then rest ride the bench. Apparently KA is very upfront with recruits regarding her demands, expectations, and vision. If one comes to Texas and works as hard as the staff asks, one will play.
Expected her to do more - was second on the team in scoring average but shot at a .294 clip (.226 from 3). This will be her second transfer - sat out 2015-2016 after transferring from USC.
I feel for Calvert and all she had to endure with the Josh Jackson fiasco. Not surprising at all that she has decided to leave KU; her head coach should be ashamed of how he treated her.
Texas Tech picks up a transfer, a 6-2 forward from Croatia, who picked TT over UW. Just me but I'd definitely take the Pacific NW over Lubbock 100 out of 100 times. That .500 from BTA is on 2 attempts.
Texas Tech is in a lot of trouble talent-wise. Don't think either of their recent incoming transfers will be eligible this coming season, and Tech needs help right away to save Coach Whitaker's job. Sadly, these two new transfers may have a new head coach once they're eligible to play in the 2018-19 season.
She's transferring from Maine. So maybe she's sick of green, mountains, and oceans and going for the opposite: treeless, flat, and dusty dry.
That would be a bummer for Whitaker to lose her job. She seems like an excellent coach to me, and doesn't have any obnoxious sideline behavior.
Whitaker was hired in 2013 so it doesn't seem like it's been long enough to judge if she can bring them back to better times. She really did not have much to work with when Curry left so I guess the program is still in the rebuilding stage. Plus she was a former player and that might get some consideration.
An excellent X's and O's coach IMO, and a class act as well. It'd be a shame if they lost her. She just hasn't had the talent to work with. Wondering what happens with the Caldwell bunch since the father is no longer on staff.
Part of a coach's responsibility is recruiting and bringing in (and keeping) talent. You don't win without talented players. Many coaches have been fired for sub-par recruiting.
It makes you wonder about those sudden transfers of players after just one year. Is the reality of what their coach is like or what the coach inferred would take place, once they started at school, vastly different than what they were told in their living rooms with Mom & Dad around. I was reading a story about the recently departed HC of Oregon volleyball and they said the same man who was so charming and supportive at their house was not there once they go to Oregon. I'm sure this is true in any sport.
If I recall correctly most of Marsha Sharp's teams were made up of players who were "homies" from little schools around the plains and panhandle. Guess those days are gone.
If all college students had the same chance scholarship athletes have----to get a free tuition paid transfer to a another school of their choice---we'd see an even higher, much higher, percentage of transfers. Few kids know what they really want at 17. I know I didn't.
Regular students already transfer at a much higher rate than student athletes. People just don't make a big deal about regular students transferring because they don't help generate the kind of money that student athletes do. And it doesn't effect the programs of our favorite college sports teams.
Well, Whitaker seemed to be improving the talent via the transfer market. Hiring Caldwell and getting his daughter to commit for the 2018 class was a good sign, but in the back of my head I didn't think she'd ever sign with Tech unless Whitaker was given an extension. She wasted no time in decommitting once her father quit at few weeks ago. Their 2017 class is very weak; and, they have also lost a good, young freshman to the transfer epidemic. 2018 now takes a huge hit with Caldwell jumping ship, and no one else on board, I don't think.
Everything can fall apart quickly for a coach and a team in this frenzied transfer atmosphere. I hope we don't lose anyone, but we could survive better than most, since Karen has built up quite a roster at this point.
Honestly just really glad she's gone from BU. She was the only one who would have a real shot at being able to guard Joyner next season. Both Brown and Cox are bigger and much slower

Te'a Cooper from Tennessee has been released for transfer per her request. She was good 2 years ago but missed last year due to injury. I wondered how Warlick was going to play all those recruits and now more evidence of how.
Hard to believe Marquette has never landed a WBB McDAA but I guess it's their men's program that has the history of success.
