I don't think it would be so surprising for Christyn W. to choose us. She had three unofficials, not just the one to UConn. She sounds genuinely undecided, like she wants to evaluate them all from the same starting point. It must be unusual to add a school "back in," so there must be something about UT that has caught a real interest.

My point was that her UConn trip was much further away than her trips to Tennessee and Baylor, and most likely more expensive due to air far. Plus, she coordinated here visit with that of Lexi Gordon and her family.

If she visits Texas unofficially this summer, then I will feel more optimistic about our chances. You would think that when she visited Baylor she could have swung by Texas, but that did not occur. Not sure if she will travel to Houston a lot to practice with her Cy-Fair club team, but if she does, perhaps that gives her an opportunity to come to Austin for that unofficial visit.

Saw this today - not sure where she is in narrowing her list:

He's not quite right - ProspectsNation has her just outside the Top 50. Her offer list is very impressive.

I read on the UConn board today that Lolo Davenport has decommitted from Texas (per Bret McCormick, ASGR).

Well, we've gone through decommitments before. Better now than closer to NSD in November.

Not going to freak out about a decommitment but, with her connection to the program, begs the question: What caused it?

What is Lolo's connection to the program? I'm not in the loop.

She's related to Empress - cousin I think. Just a few weeks ago, Empress, Joyner, Jada and Sug were at an EYBL event where Lolo was playing. Like I said, not losing sleep but I wonder if it impacts the recruitment of Jordyn Merritt (teammate at Plano).

Thanks for the explanation. I should have figured out the link to Empress.

I'm a bit disappointed by the decommit ,but I gotta say this is The University Of Texas, the best school in the country. We are headed in the right direction with a great coach, great players and a great system being implemented. We wish her well with whatever decision she makes.

We might never know the reasons. Just a couple of days ago, she and her Mom were each tweeting (or re-tweeting) things about the Texas summer camps and non-conference schedule, I believe. But, if she no longer feels comfortable with her verbal commitment, then re-opening her recruitment is best for her at this time.

She committed back on Christmas, I believe. Since then, we unexpectedly got Destiny Littleton to join the program as part of the 2017 class. While Destiny is more of a SG, and Lolo is more suited for SF (in my opinion), perhaps she wants to play SG in college and felt that with Ariel departing prior to her arrival, the depth chart at SG was to her liking. Now, that might no longer be the case.

Just pure speculation on my part. Her reasoning could be something completely different. Or, perhaps something was initiated by our coaching staff which led to this.

You never know, it could be anything, in particular given the tweets she and her family were sending just a few days ago. Perhaps renewed interest from the #1 recruit in the class meant some adjustments had to be made to the remainder of the class. Or the two could be completely unrelated, I guess we'll have to see how things unfold in the future.

I must have missed something? Is Brunnell showing us more interest? I know she visited last fall, but I haven't seen anything since.

I think he's referring to Christyn Williams (#1 in 2018) adding UT back in to her finalists.

Could be any reason. For all we know, maybe she had a "dream school" growing up, and now that school is showing her interest or extended a scholarship offer.

Did she take Texas out of consideration?

Joanne Allen-Taylor took a visit to Georgia Tech; not sure if it was official or unofficial:

That's an interesting mix of schools for Joanne. Prior to the release of her top 10, I saw her tweet about her having visited Georgia Tech a few days ago; my first thought was that perhaps academics would way in heavily in her decision as Georgia Tech is a very good academic university, especially in engineering I believe.

But, the 10 schools as a whole don't tell me much about what might be her important factors. There are lots of schools which did not make the NCAA tourney last season: Georgia Tech, Alabama, SMU, TCU, and Kansas. Then you have the other extreme with South Carolina and Miss. State being in the championship game.

If her visit to Georgia Tech was an official visit, then they have to be a serious contender. Kind of reminds me of Nalyssa Smith who took an official visit to South Carolina in April despite still having a Top 10 or so list of schools under consideration; later we hear that she has a subset of 4 schools who are above the other 6 schools.

Perhaps Joanne is someone who will be taking more official visits in the upcoming weeks, although it's also summer camp season at most universities.

Moooooo, I didn't realize Smith had a subset of 4. What are the other 3 besides USC?

I like seeing SMU on Joanne's list, if she doesn't come here. I want Travis to do well, and SMU is due some success in something.

Yeah, see page 18 of this thread. In a USA Today article, Nalyssa stated that South Carolina, Baylor, Louisvlle and Ohio State were ahead of the other schools still under consideration.

We weren't involved in her recruitment, but a very surprising choice:

Came across a few blurbs on Carter:

"Carter averaged 18.3 points per game and 14 rebounds as a junior at Harris County (Georgia)."

"Was named First Team All-Region 1-5A, First Team GHSA All-State, Harris Co. HS MVP."

So, with Lolo no longer committed (but perhaps still a target), this is where we stand at the moment for the 2018-19 season (with 13 of 15 slots filled):

Centers: Jatarie White (Sr), Olamide Aborowa (Sr), Sedona Prince (Fr)

Forwards/Wings: Khaleann Caron-Goudreau (Sr), Jordan Hosey (Sr), Joyner Holmes (Jr), Jada Underwood (Jr), Rellah Boothe (Soph), Shae Routt (Fr)

Shooting Guards: Lashann Higgs (Sr), Destiny Littleton (Soph)

Point Guards: Alecia Sutton (Jr), Chasity Patterson (Soph)

Targets: Christyn Williams (SG), Joanne Allen-Taylor (SG), Lolo Davenport * (SG/Wing), Nalyssa Smith (Forward), Queen Egbo (Forward/Center), Jessika Carter (Center)

We're probably behind several other schools for Williams and Smith; they are definitely the most highly-rated of our (known) targets. From a "need" standpoint, the numbers indicate we could use another guard. After that, not sure what's best for the last slot.

Moooo....thanks for putting that list together. It's a helpful way to assess our needs.

Did G Honesty Scott-Grayson eliminate Texas from consideration? She seems like a long shot but I haven't seen anything recently.

3 CyFair Elite players in Texas gear in the picture on the right, Deja, Sedona and ?? I choose to believe it's Christyn because that's what gives me the most hope.
