Let me put on my engineer hat and work this logic backwards:
1) We need better recruiting, better player development, and better game management. Does Connie have that? Used to. Not now. Yes, of course "time for a change".
2) What does it take to make that change? Chris Plonsky, the women's AD.
3) Who has Chris fired in the past? Soccer coach and two women's swimming coaches. Bev Kerney was more of a Patterson decision.
4) What would make Plonsky fire Clark? Fan unrest? Administration unrest? Booster unrest? Plonsky's personal unhappiness with the current product?
Fan Unrest - I don't think she reads this forum. The fact that they schedule 4:00pm games disregarding the fans shows she doesn't care about actual attendance. With LHN, does it matter about having butts on seats? Nope. Does anyone write Chris angry notes about the quality of play? Nope.
Admin Unrest - The team plays above .500 and none of the players get into trouble or embarrasses the school. It, like many sports, is a money loser. So, to them things are peachy.
Booster Unrest - I think Red McCombs wrote them a check a long time ago, got a stadium built, and that's pretty much the last time a booster thought about UT softball.
Plonsky's personal unhappiness - I have no idea how she feels. I'm guessing she thinks that Connie is doing a good job, that it would be great to win the Big 12, but some years it's just not going to happen. Connie will get it right soon.
So no. Nothing will change. Weep now. Weep tomorrow.
