I liked the beer and wine selection TX. In OK, where i live the're only able to sell 3.2 bud and coors, so I dont go there.

THey cater to the "organic" "free range" "cruelty free" and "free trade" crowd, which is fine if that's your thing.

I would love to have a Whole Paycheck store nearby but you get what you pay for, or you pay for what you get.

They don't have to worry about competing with WalMart, so they don't have to handle generics like HEB does. The produce sections are good, but you pay excessively for stuff that is only a bit better than HEB's.

I would go for the cheeses and breads alone. They have declined to stoop to the sponge breads so beloved by Texans and so you can get croissants that taste like the real thing and breads with crusts that are chewy, etc.

    Be prepared to pay. Always.

I would rather have an HEB Central Market though

As soon as they finish all that construction, which has been going on for what 6 years? That intersection and area just sucks for driving!!! I avoid it at all costs!!

You got that right. I saw on the Mayor's facebook page that the end is in sight on that project and it should be good to go long before Whole Foods opens in 2014.

I think there’s one coming up in Katy, on Fry near Grand Parkway. Not sure but my wife said she saw a sign somewhere. I don’t do the grocery shopping but I think HEB has always been good enough.

I like Whole Foods, but not enough to pay the higher prices. I like to buy organic if I can, and I think the organic selection is just as good at Central Market or my neighborhood HEB.

Crockett, you're not too far from my in-laws. My MIL will like the Whole Foods nearby, as my FIL is a celiac.

Whole Foods is good for some things, but you're crazy if you do all your shopping there.

WF sells the gallon sized White Mountain yogurt for $14.00; HEB sells it for $4/quart. WF wins. For about everything else, just go to HEB.

WF has great "ambiance", but I'm not paying $3 for a roll of recycled "organic" paper towels.

Not to rain on WF, but you've got the best grocery store in America right here; HEB. I'd rather have a Central Market than a WF.

I agree. All things considered, HEB is hard to beat.

You should care if your significant other starts shopping there on a regular basis, because you will need to take up armored car robbery as a vocation to fund these junkets.
Other than that, it is great to shop there. Lots of excellent products.

Very good prepared foods if you are a DINK. For a family of 5 with 3 boys I much prefer Trader Joe's and your average grocery chain.

We shop at WF for special occasions. Great selection but the prices are over the top.

I'm sure Whole Foods will soon have Amazons new retail system installed allowing for self checkout.

I had heard the rumor that the H.E. Butt corporation (HEB grocery stores) was going to buy Whole Foods. It was to be known as Butt-Whole Foods.

I prefer a nice HEB any day for grocery shopping. I find most of them have good quality and a great selection.

The thing I do love about Whole Foods, though, is the selection for dining in! My boyfriend and I often go there when we're not sure what we're in the mood for. The one in downtown Austin does Ramen, Sushi, Tacos, salads, a rotation of buffet style foods (by regional cuisines), BBQ, and so much more.

They also have a great meat and fish market where you can get things that HEB might not have. Most will have some sort of a wine or beer bar (or both). It may not replace your weekly grocery spot, but yes, you should be excited! :)

Always appreciated HEB but never knew how much until moving to Frisco in Feb. Closest one is over 50 miles away in Waxahachie.

HEB puts grocery stores around here to shame in every metric. Not even close.

The options here are so lacking (Tom Thumb, Kroger, etc) and overpriced it's perplexing why they don't move in and quickly dominate this area.

All of the Plano/Frisco folks I've spoken to about this unanimously agree the grocery options are sorely lacking.

With all this available developed land and rapid expansion, doesn't get any more fertile to penetrate a major market and dominate in no time.

Must be a good reason they haven't ventured this way. Definitely curious.

When I moved to Richardson, there were no HEBs north of I-20. The closest one was in Waxahatchie. Perhaps they believe expanding the Central Market brand into the Dallas area is a better investment than the HEB brand? While I was there, I did 90% of my grocery shopping at Central Market and Sprouts.

Y'all are very lucky down there. The worst grocery stores there make our best in the Chicago burbs look like palaces. We have nothing close to HEB or Central Market or anything.
