I watched. The officer knew Castile was armed. He wasn't reaching for license or insurance. The officer already had that. The officer said Castile was ignoring orders and reaching for his weapon and the dashcam seems to support that. The officer was horrified to do what he clearly thought was his only safe course of action.

Is it a reasonable expectation that when people get pulled over to reduce tensions by just doing what the officer asks? Is there some class of people for whom it's unreasonable to ask them to show their hands or extinguish a cigarette?

I'm pretty much cooperative in most situations, even when dealing with folks who have no authority. Maybe since it's so easy for me to put my hands on the steering wheel and answer questions politely I don't know what it's like to have an inner voice calling on me to be defiant.

    (a) Juries usually get it right
    (b) I say it is impossible for anyone to accurately substitute his/her judgement for that of a jury if they did not sit there for the entire trial and see and hear everyone and everything the jury saw and heard. And, equally important, did not see and hear.
    (c) Lastly, I have never seen a reporter who covers a trial who fully understood what is happening in the trial they are covering. Never.

Not to everyone, including the FBI.

There are a lot of good reasons for law enforcement to wait until the final report to present conclusions. Most times the truth is obvious, but sometimes all the facts eventually lead to someplace unexpected.

The MSM ... given their previous willingness to make an early call on numerous subjects ... I don't see how they can constrain themselves or each other.

The outrage is being successfully muted by the MSM and FBI and the severity of this unprecedented attack is fading because only one Rep was shot and will recover.

However, only sheer luck prevented it from being a mass slaughter of Congressional members. Imagine the gov and public response if 5+ Reps would've died on that field.

The reality is that atrocious fate was all but guaranteed if the Majority Whip's security detail hadn't started returning fire swiftly after the first shots got off.

There was nowhere for those Reps to run or find cover if the shooter was unloading at will for minutes without any danger of return fire.

The FBI couldn't have gotten away with this mind-boggling snow job. And if it were Dem targets all hell would still be breaking loose even if a single bullet didn't hit a target.

It's really pathetic that terrorist attacks are so desensitized now in our society that it's only a sustainable outrage if multiple people lose their lives in the same attack.

Point in case, the cop who was stabbed in the neck at Michigan airport this week. People will be interested for a day or two and it'll be forgotten by the weekend.

As a matter of fact the online debate is no longer even about the act, but how MSM avoided citing the official Islamic terror credo words he screamed before stabbing.

It was definitely covered by all media. JoeFan knows that it was but is attempting to create a narrative that fits his worldview.

I've seen it and it proves nothing one way or the other b/c we cannot see inside the vehicle. However, I find it about par for the course that you believe this one officer, even if he did act hastily, represents a problem with all of law enforcement but you do not similarly feel that what Hodgekinson did represents a problem with Democrats.

That's certainly deplorable. The caption on the video say "former..." so Chet's tweet could use more accuracy.

The longer you stay in the hospital, the higher your odds of contracting a severe infection.
Some of the worst germs live in watery environments, so any breathing tubes, tubes in and out of the body, procedures, etc. are a bad infection waiting to happen. That is why they don't allow flowers in the ICU. Also why burn patients can seem to be doing fine, then suddenly pass away.
I hope he recovers. If he has a hospital acquired infection, there are only a couple of
"giant gun" antibiotics that work on those bugs.

I saw that good for him. Six weeks in the hospital and now who knows how many weeks of in patient rehab, but he's getting there.

Fixed this headline for the WSJ

"Steve Scalise is learning how to walk again after being shot by a Democrat at a congressional baseball practice in June"

Three and a half months of surgery and rehab, but he walked back into Congress. Looks better than I expected. Good for him.

So the man who survived a murder attempt on him motivated by political views has declined to adopt the political views of his attempted murderer
    Go figure

It's not so hard to be consistent when you have actual standards and principles that you live by. If it weren't for double-standards, the left would have no standards at all.

I bet there was enough security planning to prevent a sniper. So why can't...

Has Alyssa Milano been relevant since she was on Who's the Boss? If not, then why should anyone listen to her more than to Ricky Schroeder or Emmanuel Lewis?

Clearly he meant their deaths, not a reference to their careers, right? What's that delicate thing that falls from the sky when the the temperature is below freezing again?
