No one is arguing this. No one thinks players should be kicked off for a speeding ticket. Not all crimes are the same. That is why our legal system does not have the same punishment for all crimes. Rape and illegal parking do not carry the same penalties.

    No.

I agree this is a major problem and it needs to be combatted. How does looking the other way while high school kids also deal prescription drugs solve this issue? I am against both doctors and high school kids doling out prescription drugs to people that do not really need them.

He has been cleared to join the team.
    Welcome.
Take advantage of a wonderful second chance young man.

Sounds like a very short leash
He plead guilty to the lessor charge
I dont know for certain but am guessing regular drug testing will be mandatory for the full length of the probation period
Any mistake, no matter how small, and that will probably be it

I'm ok with it, but thought it interesting that Mike made the call and Tom said, "well ok, i guess"

    Minimizes backlash on the coach.

Perrin's a lawyer and athletic director so I think he's a more qualified judge of character than I. I'll take him at his word that Reece was contrite, sincere and accountable. Perrin is not the world's most charismatic AD, so his credibility is a key to his success. I don't think he'd risk it on a 3 star tight end if the vibe he received during the interview was anything but positive.

I doubt he plays the first year. Needs time to thicken. So, there will be time to evaluate character and his commitment to what he needs to do. I do trust Perrin and i believe in giving second chances for those who repent.

Whether he is more qualified is debatable but not for those reasons. I worked directly with young people for 37 years and consider myself a damn good judge of character. I also agree with his decision.

Probably not the way it went down, but Perrin is covering for his coach which is an admirable move.

    2 game suspension.

He's on the team, but has consequences.

I hope he's really repentant. New chance. Don't blow it, kid.

No Maryland and San Jose St. Back for USC when we'll need all hands on deck.
