Box score. Brooke didn't play at all. https://docs.google.com/viewerng/vi.../14/Box_Score_TK_Hannover.pdf&date=1502745354
Higgs didn't play either. As mentioned in another thread, Higgs hasn't been seen in any of the photos.
Jatarie was working hard! It sure looks to me like that was one of the twins that hit a 3-pointer in the highlights. ?? http://texassports.com/index.aspx?path=wbball
Considering UT's 3 best players didn't play, not entirely disappointing for a formalized scrimmage. Based on the box score, Rellah either didn't get many minutes or was a bit passive (only 2 shots from a player not usually shy about shooting).
Coach Brooke McCarty with her first W. I like the fact Coach Aston is using this trip for truly educational purposes on and off the court. Playing the freshmen and players with limited/no minutes last season, giving Brooke a chance to develop her sideline leadership/game management skills. I wouldn't be surprised if Ariel is the 'coach' in the game after she rejoins the team.
I would hazard a guess that in about 5-10 years...or less... Brooke will be a very good coach.....if not star coach in high school. I believe her mother is a coach so it is in her DNA. Someone will hire her quickly and it will be just which direction she wants to go........high school or assistant in college. Someday we may see Brooke back on the bench at Texas as a coach.
Highlights from today's win. I couldn't watch the game (not on Facebook). Hard to draw many conclusions from a 2-minute video but... Jatarie seems to really know how to finish in traffic. More players seem to hit their jumpers and long distance shots. The last highlight of Rellah makes me wonder how good she can be after a full year in the S&C program. Scary.
Stats: "White was Texas' leading scorer and rebounder with 16 points and 12 boards. Sophomore guard Alecia Sutton followed with 14 points, while freshman guard Chasity Pattersonscored 12. Freshmen Rellah Boothe and Destiny Littleton scored 11 points each, while junior forward Olamide Aborowa brought down 10 rebounds." "The Longhorns brought down 56 rebounds and came up with nine steals, including five swipes by Sutton." Box score: http://texassports.com/documents/2017/8/16//Box_Score_FSG_Academy.pdf?id=8173
Fran also mentioned that Brooke has a SLIGHT shoulder issue, so the coaches decided to keep her off the court for the trip. I watched the game off and on, as I was at work. But from the bits of it that I saw I cannot wait to see Jatarie play in person. She is a banger down low, and Fran said that she loves to play that way. She is going to be a great asset in the paint!
Also wanted to quickly mention that Fran said Jatarie's parents surprised her by going on the trip. She had no idea they were going!
I can already see this is going to be Special Season. One you got a Banger in J.White on the inside.Love the hook shot. And the Outside shooting is going to be so special from so many player's.Texas can really become a hand full for Team's. Hookem'
The thing i noticed on my second watch through the highlights was Mide's movement without the ball and her smooth transition to blocking out once the ball goes up. We saw glimpses of it last year (OT at Florida State being the highlight play). I hope we will see more of it this year.
Horns win today 122-36. Hosey had 25 points and 17 rebounds. The freshmen and the players that didn't play much last year played the majority of the time. I sure hope they got a lot of bonding/culture cause the basketball today was not good. Texas 28-2 to start the game. Box score on TexasSports.com.
