So this morning on SC I saw a quote from Kevin Durant saying that he won't visit the White House if invited with the Warriors to celebrate their championship:

    http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...hite-house-harsh-words-president-donald-trump

He also said, "if I know my guys they will agree with me" hinting that none of the Warriors would attend.

Can't these guys just shut up and play ball? You're an ENTERTAINER for crying out loud. And here I thought I couldn't care any less about the NBA.

The same could be said for everyone else, including folks here, who have strong personal views on things. Can't you just shut up and [whatever you do]?

    This isn't about the NBA

This is more than the NBA. Many people are saying that Kevin Plank of UnderArmour stepped down from that business council because he was afraid that his continued association with the President was going to hurt him with Steph Curry. I despise the Warriors and think KD is weak but this is not a big deal either way. I expect that they'll either all go or all not go. Hell, they may not get invited....kind of like how the Donald fired the councils after they affirmed that they were going to fold up.

In that video, he'd have gotten SO MUCH more positives if he'd have been a good sport about it. He comes off like a little b. I was rooting for Zika when he was in Brazil. I'm hoping that foot fracture flares up on him. :)

Wait...weren't you criticizing the "left" for limiting free speech on one of the Charlottsville threads? Must have been another Phil Elliott.

Get over it! You and the idiot thunder fans. He obviously made the right decision to get out of that hell hole that is Oklahoma. And you're a lame for wishing injury on any athlete.

What about wishing injury on the ex-Sonics? Just kidding...I only wish injury on Thunder ownership, especially Clay Bennett and David Stern. (Kidding of course...kinda).

Good for Kevin, he clearly has great decision making. Getting out of that horrible place in Oklahoma and winning a championship right off the bat. And now this great decision!

Good for KD having the freedom to express his beliefs. Unlike other people/groups who get run down in the streets for expressing their beliefs. Im not sure why some think they have the right to silence peaceful expression because they disagree with that opinion or belief.

Hey, you have every right to be racist. But a person that doesn't like it also has every right to bust you in your mouth for being racist.

No, you don't have the right to physically abuse people for expressing an opinion.

His right to express his political opinions. But unfortunately this move makes him look very petty and very small. An invitation to the White House is a symbolic goodwill gesture. Turning down an invitation because you disagree with the President's politics is pretty weak and poor manners. I would think the same of a conservative who turned down an invite from Obama or Clinton. I am a KD fan but he sure makes it difficult at times.

I disagree. It's a principled stance against a very divisive POTUS. I don't fault those that choose to go as an "honor" nor those who choose to stay away like so many Patriots did this Spring.

Are you saying if a white player decided to not visit BO you would have supported him? I'm guessing he would have been crucified everywhere for being a racist. Didn't that actually happen? I forget.

I am no fan of Trump and think he has been a very chaotic and unstable POTUS so far, but there are many who considered Obama to be an extremely divisive POTUS as well. I suspect most people on the left would feel differently if a conservative athlete snubbed Obama because he didn't like his politics. I just don't respect folks that cannot put politics aside and be respectful to others even if you don't necessarily like that person.

Jay Leno used to have this segment where he would talk to the man on the street ('Jaywalking'). It was a funny bit mainly laughing at the expense of dumb individuals but indirectly a slap at the entire US educational system.

Anyways, he once brought into his studio three of the best/worst people he met on the streets and had them compete in a Hall Of Fame game show type format. As I remember it, Leno would show a picture and they would buzz in to guess who or what was pictured.

I will never forget this one guy who made me laugh so hard I literally cried. The picture was of Yasser Arafat. And the contestant buzzed in and screamed out loud "Rat Fat Air a Fat." I am not sure why I LOLd so hard but I did. It still makes me laugh remembering it just now. Maybe it was the look on the guy's face as he said it.

Is this where you got your name?

Maybe you were the guy on Leno?

I'm disappointed in KD. Everyone is jumping on the political bandwagon without looking rationally at all sides. If this keeps up there will be many empty seats in pro venues as the fans will boycott. College sports may not be affected much yet.

Lol, you're disappointed in Kevin. As if he gives a damn, and there isn't any sides to look at. Either you're for racism and white supremacy in America or you're against it. It's that simple, and I think know what side you're on.

At some point these people that are in the spot light has to be the bigger person and put their country before their political views. To make these kind of decisions keeps a divide. As bad of a President as Obama was, I really wanted him to be successful and make good decisions because it would help our country. Of course everyone would cringe at his decisions because we knew before the results were shown what would happen. So I never support the decision of anyone that boycotted Obama. Time for these spoiled entertainers to grow up.

They are putting America first by exposing the under belly of Americas racist past and present. And you mean the decisions that got America out of a depression that George Bush put it in? Or allowing Human Beings to marry the person they loved? Or giving poor people and the less fortunate access to health care?

Obama was the worst President we've ever had and the congress from 2006 to 2010 were the worst ever. What a bad combination with those them in office all at the same time. BHO doubled our debt from $10 trillion to $20 trillion more than all the other presidents combined. Most of his job creation were government jobs and part-timers. The only president that in his 8 years to never have the GDP over 3%. Trump is already about to do that at 3.72% from cutting all the stupid regulations that BHO ordered. A 3rd grader understands economics better than #44 (our community organizer). He has his name on the worst legislation in America history with Obamacare. Iran deal? That was a joke. Shovel ready jobs? That was a joke. Cash for clunkers? That was a joke. Fast and Furious? Disaster. He said the $500 million investment to Solyndra would change our energy forever. How embarrassing that was for him when it went bankrupt 6 months later after it opened. Made cuts to our military and then allowed all the other countries bully us, which left his foreign policy a mess. His IRS attack on conservatives and he said there's not a smidgeon of evidence. Well that didn't hold true. He was wrong about........well pretty much everything. If he said it, the opposite would happen.

Entitlements grew by a huge amount, taxes were raised, Average family incomes spiraled down, lowest job participation rate since Carter, Black unemployment sky rocketed, corruption at the highest order for a solid 8 years and on and on. I could go on all day about how bad of a President he was. He makes our second worst President Jimmy Carter look like a brilliant President

You tell me his biggest accomplish. Not just an accomplishment...... but his biggest? Because to answer that question would be embarrassing for you.

But what do I know, I'm a racist because I'm bashing the first black President with facts on his policies. Don't be mad Mr Ratt "I'm a victim" Fatt.
