Our group from San Antonio/ Northern Bexar County is going to take advantage of the scheduling and catch the UH - UTSA game in the Alamo Dome. The Texas game is an 11:00am start and the UH/UTSA game is a 6:00pm start. Leaving the house at 07:00am for the Texas game and getting home at midnight after the UH/UTSA game should get the football season started in fine fashion.

Go mBeep mBeeps!! (I live in SA as well, Austin 1973-1989, Houston 1990-1999, SA 2000 since.)

Haven't made a mBeep mBeep football game, but did go to Wolfe stadium to watch the defending 2005 national champion Texas Longhorn baseball team back in 2006 lose a 14-10 mid season one to the mBeep mBeeps. It was a lot of fun, UTSA fans were out in force, happy for them, they got to beat big brother national champs. It's baseball, relaxed, no one game is that important, outside, clear skies, birds chirping, .... unlike football that's, well kind of like watching newsreels of the Nazis pouring into Poland in 1939.

So, Hook 'em in the first, and whatever for the mBeep mBeeps in the second.

I have great admiration for Richard Romo and all he accomplished at UTSA. He took a community college turned commuter school, and turned it into a destination school. Not since Alabama Normal School for Girls and Florida Normal School for Women were converted to their state's official Cow College has such a major transformation taken place, and that is because of Ricardo Romo. His treatment by The University System is an abomination and total embarrassment to the system and the entire State, particularly considering some of the administration actions at the mother ship.

For those that do not know Richard, he was easily the most accessible president of any large school in the country. Friends have asked me to approach him about "issues" their children thought were important at UTSA. No "issue" was too small. After he was fired, I called his office to find out an address to which to send a note of thanks for all he did for the youth of our state, and to congratulate him on great accomplishments. In all my years of bitching at the school, NEVER have I been treated more rudely. I hope the coup was worth it, but it would not be a good idea for me to find out the new dictator is sitting behind me in Memorial Stadium like Richard did on occasion.

So, I wish no ill to their students, but I shall have nothing good to say to or about their leadership. Neither shall I watch or cheer for them even if they are playing A&M or OU.

Romo did a fantastic job and what happened to him was terrible. I wouldn't mind seeing him as President of UT. I am looking forward to seeing Applewhite's first UH team and what he puts on the field. I also like the way the UTSA fans have jumped into tailgating, kind of like a mini Easter picnic at Breckenridge park. I have made a few UTSA games when there wasn't a conflict with Texas games and they are a lot of fun.

UTSA/UH game postponed. The right decision by UH to request delay and good for UTSA for agreeing. Looks like late games s Saturday will be viewed on the big screen in the man cave.
