Most disappointing aspect of this loss?

Considering that's the only two times he blocked his man, a kinda overlooked that.

There are different ways to show your frustration but throwing debris on the field is childish and classless IMO.

I agree. Too much stupid for me as well.

It's always baffling to me how many coaches can't figure out when to go for 2 and not to go for 2 (and there some situations where there is no one right call, but sometimes one option is clearly better than the other).

It was a blatant block and he didn't even pretend to try and run the route. Absolutely the right call.

More obnoxious than ever. "Gameday experience" is a very expensive attempt to be a bush league, minor league baseball game in Hobbs, NM. I picked Hobbs because their police dept called in to complain about the noise.

I heard the LHB play "Texas Fight" three times - when they marched in the stadium, when the team ran on the field at the beginning of the game, and when the team came out for the second half. But I heard every damn commercial, which I could have heard in Bastrop if I had left early. This is my 53rd year of attending virtually every home game, and I think this is probably the worst gameday experience I have ever had.

Yes, I enjoy the replays on jumbotron, but those were few yesterday. Lose the damn commercials, the obnoxious music, the stupid "games', pizza drawings, and the sideline bimbo and cheeseball, and return us to the days of Pryor, Slippery Rock, and where Hondo Crouch's mother is. I am left with no other choice than to believe that our "gameday experience" is run by some classless cheeseball , who never set foot in Texas, much less on The Forty Acres before he went on payroll.

My biggest disappointment from yesterday's loss to MD was the realization that I was letting myself think for the last nine months that Tom Herman was going to do what Urban Meyer did in his first year at OSU. I wasn't thinking 12-0, but 9-3? It's almost as we were thinking that since we are Texas and we have the next whizkid that, what, we would get an extra man on the field?

What a shame. All that money and still worse than when MB left. The long runs up the middle where definitely deja vu. The lack of a run game surprised me and I still am wondering why Porter got the bulk of the carries. After so much anticipation the season looks depressing right now but.......see ya next week. :hookem:

Those were a direct result of telegraphing our blitzes. Every time Orlando dialed up a safety blitz, #4 telegraphed it worse than I have ever seen in any game at any level. Maybe Orlando needs to call Leon Fuller and have Perrin drop a million on Leon to show him how to disguise his coverage. Better yet, the best I've ever seen at that is Bill Bradley. Drop $250,000 on Bill to show Orlando how to scheme and disguise.

Underdevelopment of physically talented players like Malik and Boyd. Additionally, the offensive line was atrocious. #64 watching the guy blitz right beside him while not even trying to engage anyone looked like he was trying to get Shane hurt on purpose.

I'm not giving up on Herman nor this team after one game. They will get better.

As long as Warren is healthy enough he should have been starting. He is clearly the better back. It's becoming more apparent that we don't have enough talent on the lines with bad blocking, pass rush, allowing so many rushing yards. I thought Shane scrambled out of the play too often. He should have scrambled up the field more instead of way outside. That being said, we have to give the coaching staff time to fix this program. It won't be fixed over night.

There was so much to be disappointed with it's hard to choose.

I suppose Herman's decisions that ignored the basic fundamentals of football that every great coach from Darrell Royal to Nick Saban have followed was the biggest disappointment.

The other would be how every time the team got a break, like the 90 yard punt return, they followed it up with a Maryland 60 yard KO return and 40 yard run.

In so many ways this team is a coaches worst nightmare. There are 3-4 guys who have NFL talent, but it appears they will never be football players. There are 3-4 guys who bring the passion and toughness to win, but they lack D1 talent. Most of the team is exactly what their recruiting rankings said they were, average 3* college players. Without the top tier guys producing, Texas is on an average to beneath average team. Due to the 3-4 guys with NFL talent, people think Texas should walk all over teams like Maryland. It is not going to happen unless the guys with NFL talent learn to play. The lone exception to this thread is Williams and he probably played the worst game of his collegiate career yesterday.

'69 at Arkansas, 4th and short. Royal throws a long pass to Peschel.
Years later, vs Nebraska for first BigXII title, James Brown... roll left.
2006 Rose Bowl.. down 12 with 4min to go... 'nuff said.
This game, down by just 3 pts about to start the 4th quarter after scoring 20 pts in the 3rd, and Maryland just losing their starting QB... 4th down and 2... what does Texas do??....

In comes Jerrod Heard in shotgun. Maryland defense has no clue what to do.
Might have been a good move.

The offensive play calling, the penalties, OL/DL effort, special teams, coaching decisions in critical situations and getting beat in the trenches.

Most disappointing - felt like game 13 of 2016.

Boo and the WR played well.

They certainly played it more than three times, but for some weird reason their new location in the north corner does not let the sound travel very well. I was sitting in section 6 almost directly across from them and could hardly hear them.

2 missed FGs one blocked for a TD.
We still don't have a dependable FG kicker that we can count on to make a 40 yd FG.
Allowing them to convert a 3rd and 19.
We still don't have a dependable defense that can make a stop when it counts.

Meaning: In order to win, we have to play mistake free football on offense, score every time we have the ball, go for it on fourth down rather that kick an otherwise makeable FG.

Perrin is right, of course, but I can think of a much more effective way of accomplishing his goal

For me it was play calling when we were on the 50, 3rd and 2 and only down by three. I was feeling pretty good right about then. So we try two Shane pass/rollouts that lose a yard and turn it over on downs.

Two possible explanations for this. The OC had a mental meltdown and just called bad plays. I don't like this but can live with it, barely. The second explanation is way more worrisome. OC did not believe we have an O line and back that can gain 2 yards in 2 plays. If this is the case then we are in a world of hurt. Give it to Warren. TWICE. I like Buechele and think he is a better than good quarterback, particularly with the wealth of receivers we have this year. If we can't run it though tough teams like SC, ou and OSU will absolutely mud hole him.

As far as throwing fans on the field enough of that. DKR isn't Lubbock.

When you look at the way we played Saturday, our next opponent and game time in the heat of the day the attendance next week will be pathetic.:bevo:

Attendance next week probably wouldn't be much different even if we won. I attribute a good part of the Maryland empty seats to fans from Houston recovering from the hurricane. Our running game will only work with Warren. Porter should be a 3rd down passing situation back. It boils down to line play on both sides of the ball.

Did you watch the NC game? Can they at least be consistent? Clemson did it on both their last 2 TDs. And held the block longer on both of them. That's all I'm saying. I have no idea what the rules are anymore because they are enforced differently.

Unfortunately for Perrin, it is who we are. We might tear down the goal posts if we beat KState.
