Since I still so frustrated from our on the field play yesterday, I thought I would give some other thoughts from the game.
    • Screen looks better and glad to see we don't have the missing pixels from last year's jumbotron
    • Happy to see the band in full uniform, I know it was hot but I hate when they rolled out in khaki shorts and polos for the first games a few years back
    • I thought the sound system upgrade was a HUGE improvement. Much better clarity on the low range that has been just garbled blaring noise for the last few years
    • Bet they don't hand out those paper fans for next week's game. Took all i had to resist the temptation to see how far I could sail one in the 4th qtr and I am an old boring 47 yr old. Too tempting for a 19 yr old college kid.
    • Maybe the first time I ever paid $10 for a Corona Draft and the first time I have ever seen it called a "premium beer"
    • Attendance was announced at 88,396. Didn't seem anywhere close to that to me. Upper deck didn't seem half full and it looked like half the big money donors in Sec 4-7 had left by halftime.
    • Why in the world do some parents bring their newborns and infants under 2 to a game in that heat. As a father of 3, I can't imagine exposing my newborn to the danger in that heat. There were 3 kids under one within 2 rows of me in my section and 2 of them were being swaddled by their moms.
    • Loved the Tiff's Treats commercial shown on the jumbotron featuring VY and Ricky-
OK, hoping for better game next week. BTHOSJS!

Agree on the crowd, one if the smallest I've seen. Upper west side is rarely with more than a few empties and this was seriously sparse in corners and top.

I observed lots of empty seats in 102. I also observed it was real hot.

    • Last time I went to a game (it's been a while), ads surrounded the ENTIRE video portion of the board. Scoreboard on one side, along with a single ad, and a much bigger video section = ENORMOUS improvement.
    • As a former Longhorn Band member myself, I was shocked they wore the full uniforms, though at least they got to ditch the jackets in the stands. Would've preferred to see the polo shirts. I spent the whole game feeling bad for them. And the full uniforms are embarrassingly tacky in the first place.
    • Sound system still too loud, but better and more well-balanced.
    • Attendance was bad, as usual. The people who paid the most cared the least, as usual. Better to have tickets going for $10 at HEB than have $1,000 tickets going unused. A ticket that costs $1 is better than an empty seat.
    • If a kid is too young to remember the game, what's the point? A babysitter is cheaper than a ticket, and they'd enjoy playing with their toys at home more than going to a game anyway. And then someone who'd enjoy the game can get their seat instead. Everybody wins.

Oh yeah, i liked the names on the wall like they were before much better than those orange placards. Much classier on the wall I thought. Video banner is too skinny to be cool imho.

Yeah, I'm a HUGE traditionalist when it comes to all that is UT-Austin.

Glad to see the bass boat Bevo decals went back to just flat burnt orange. Glad to see over time dumping black shoes and black socks to Sunday go-to-church use.

And would actually support an assessment of ALL things SUPPOSEDLY painted/tinted burnt orange on or around DKRTMS to be actually BE burnt orange.

    Etc., etc.

And I'm a HUGE support of LHB; many years past, in some boring games at TMS I enjoyed halftime more than the game, particularly because of the percussion section being highlighted to kickoff the halftime performance.

But, BUT, I've NEVER liked the rick-rack LHB unis. I like the cowboy hats, but can ANYTHING be done to revamp the "vampiness" of those unis?

Other schools' I'm not a fan of include those like Michigan State (look like a 1930ish milkman uniform), those drab khakis of our friends over on the Brazos, etc., but Texas' IMHO unis, not the band, but the unis kind of leave a bit to be desired compared to, say, USC's and SMU's (at least in the past - "The Best Dressed Band in the West").

Hell, even cowboy boots, blue jeans, and white western cut shirts with pearl snap buttons I think would be an improvement. Unique at least.

    Drop the rick rack.

    2 cents.

    Hook 'em, LHB

I have to say I agree. It's basically orange leisure suits. Go with jeans and pearl snaps. What makes the band great is marching, playing, and formations; not the uniforms.

An orange-and white version of something like this would look great. Orange jackets, white pants and baldric (shoulder stripe), lose the gauntlets (forearm things), and keep the cowboy hats.
Maybe shorten the brim, about to this:

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

I'm an old guy and traditionalist about all UT things...however I've thought the band uniform needed to be upgraded from a 1940-1950's look of today.

I experienced dramatically improved response from my AT&T phone. Better than ever. At least they delivered on their promise - TH should follow their lead.

THIS^^^ The better reception in the stadium was a good improvement. Liked the renovated jumbotron and the graphics around the stadium. Sound system was light-years better than the previous muffled noise.

My objection is not the quality, it is the content of what they are spewing out.

How can one say they're a traditionalist and then suggest changes to the LHB uniform?

I appreciate the issue of heat/et al ... y'all are young. When I was there, I didn't care about the heat, I was happy to be able to represent in my Class A all formed-up with the Wing ready for the drill/ceremony at Memorial Stadium. Ya'll even have a surface which is MILES better than the old astro-turf.

keep the unis as they are.

glad to hear about the success in the various upgrades. Will be there this weekend, methinks --- Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise.

still not a fan of the new restrictions. We've already had this discussion, AD. Y'all were wrong then, you're wrong now. But hey, we've got Tom Herman, so it's all good! ughh.

The same way you can be a traditionalist and not want the football team to still be wearing these:

Or wear throwbacks like the Pittsburgh Steelers did, more than once:

The band doesn't wear stuff like that for a one game gimmick, but ALL THE TIME.

There's traditional, and then there's archaic. It doesn't have to turn into avant-garde like Oregon's football uniforms, but instead, modern traditional. Much like Texas's football uniforms.

Eh, I've always like that our band doesn't look like the likes of goofy *** Ohio State, you know, like a HIGH SCHOOL marching band. Very unique.
