That looks like pre-game tailgating, obviously. Interesting they allow that to stay up.

Stark contrast to the other post I think you put up where it said USC fans gave Texas a standing ovation or something as they exited the field.

When USC attaches itself to the likes of Snoop Dog and Will Ferrel, I'm not surprised they would hang a VY Bevo in effigy. Effigy them.

I wonder why you only quoted me and not the 2 other posters who obviously thought it was something that points to the mentality overall.

Would something like that be on display at a Texas tailgate? I don't know.

    Pretty much where I'm at.

Yep. I think Herman needs to call the plays.

Herman seems to have a hard time with head coach decisions much less having to run the offense full time.

For crissakes there has to be a damn OC out there who wants is hungry and wants to be at a place like Texas. We need to go ut and get that guy.

Because I'm on my phone replying and you happened to have the post I replied to. Wasn't picking on you.

I'd definitely bring a Bob Stoops piñata to Dallas. We defeated the greatest army in the history of the world when we won the title. A pinata doesn't bother me.

This for some reason is a big thing for me, why we don't do a legitimate fake. If you want examples see Bama, Clemson, even USC, and most other teams. They actually look like they are potentially handing off on the play action calls and for certain any zone reads while our QB makes a motion with the ball - at best. Just never understood that.
I'm quite proud of the defensive effort but wishing for just a few more points.

The D had a very good night and did a very good job getting stops in the red zone. Sort of a bend, but they would not break. They did give up that big play for a TD at the end of the 1st half. looking at the replay the DBs were bunched to the left and the receiver took it to empty space to the right...TD. Our O was not as productive and why we went away from the run is confusing. The o-line play was very "meh" and allowed too many sacks, QB hurries, and hits. There are a lot of questions. The fumble at the 1 in OT killed us. Sam had the first down, but the ball was taken away and that was all she wrote.

Overall, I was pleased with the D effort and level of play for all 4 quarters. The O is sluggish and the plays called and overall schemes or plan is questionable. One major bright spot was the emergence of Collin Johnson. He was a very bright spot. I hope the rest gets sorted out now that conference play is here. I guess we'll see.

One thing I don't understand is why do we have Lorenzo Joe going for those long pass plays when he's not as fast as some of our other receivers like Foreman for one. BTW was Burt available to play.

I would remind y'all that this is the same team that got whipped on the line by Maryland. I've got my list of gripes, too, but I am trying to not be greedy. I *never* thought we'd see such an improvement in the D this fast - remains to be seen if they can play this way week in and week out. Also please keep in mind that play calling ALWAYS looks like *** when you cannot block.

No doubt about the blocking problem...

Would you complain so much if OU brought a pinata of Peter Gardere?

I am sure this has been discussed ad nauseum, but here is my question. The rule concerns "grasping and twisting" the facemask. While the defender did not grab the mask where one normall sees it called, i.e., the opening, he did grab the facemask from the side where it attaches to the helmet, and it did cause twisting of the head. The announcers all proclaimed that this was a good non-call on review, but I don't see any clarification stating the side of the facemask doesn't count.

Since when has Bevo ever been portrayed in black? You know, like the one that the Spoiled Children used AND labeled as VY?

Gardere would STILL be poor taste, no matter WHAT color they portrayed Bevo as.

Bottom line is that, appallingly, people in this thread attempted to justify the use of something that is, at best, extremely poor optics. At worst, it was downright racist in nature...

    Come on, man.
They basically lynched a black man there.
You have to have more awareness than that.

I refuse to jump to the darkest interpretation of people's motives. The pinata was made by a company, maybe that was the only brown they had or maybe the pic is bad. VY is their kryptonite, hell they deny the loss in their own media guide. Had Colt been the QB that fateful night with the same result, that pinata says C. McCoy, and there's no outrage.

There's no story, just a photo. Why jump to the worst about people you don't even know?

    I'm not jumping to anything.
    And you are correct.
If that's a white dude named C. McCoy nobody gets as upset.
    But it's not.
It's the semblance of a black man hanging from a tree.
    I don't care if it's a pinata.
Before I string that thing up I'm thinking, "No way". That just looks bad.
I'm not even saying they meant anything that vulgar.
But to a lot of people that is vulgar.
My first thought when I saw that picture was how is anybody stupid enough to hang an effigy of a black man from a tree.
You just have to be more aware than that.

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Having played in HS, after losing a game and walking off the field, the last thing you want is anyone coming up to you to pump a lot of sunshine and tell you how well you or the team played despite the loss, etc. etc. I suspect these Horns were major pissed off just after THAT loss...

It goes back to the moral victory argument. I agree with your take.
