I would yield if this were the only way to get the Wall built
But the Wall would fave to be fully built first
Why? Because they lie, or at least never follow through with what they say
If we made this deal, but let EV got through first, the Wall would never get built
So, build the Wall first, then have some type of sane temporary or seasonal worker permitting process. I have discussed this fully on the other thread. Do all of this, and EV is no longer even necessary.

If you're a protectionist on trade (as Trump is), then this is actually a good thing. I don't think it's a good thing, but protectionists generally do, because it makes imports more expensive. As a person who has dollars and frequently has to buy things in Euros, it really sucks.

Except to deal with the massive number of people who overstay their visas - meaning they enter the country legally and therefore wouldn't be stopped by a wall.

Not sure your premise is valid
He is protectionist if he has to be, will certainly use protectionism as a threat (as I would) but what he really wants is for trade deals to be fair to the US, especially US workers.
Not sure what the correct -ism is for that

Clinton and her peeps have been doing their fair share of rotten deeds over the last few decades that makes Manafort look like a boy scout.

I don't know, but I don't have any reason to assume it's significantly lower than those who entered illegally. In fact these people have a big advantage in finding work, because they have real documents.

Nearly eight months in and Trump has been totally co-opted. He is subservient to the generals. John Kelly, his chief of staff, voted for Hillary Clinton.

I read John Kelly keeps all information flow to Trump controlled. Apparently Trump is only hearing mainstream media perspecitive now. It explains much of his tone change and puzzling comments over the last month. The deep state has co-opted the movement. Same thing happens to all US populist movements. Oh well.

I agree. Have read as much from several sources. Here's one article that pretty much sums up the situation.

Oh the Liberal lies and the sheep who snack on them. People act like they're unfamiliar with the same Donald Trump personality for the last four decades.

Yeah, that's a man who'd let someone restrict what he can read daily. Alright Donald, no more Fox or Drudge Report for you, these are your options...CNN, MSNBC, NYT, Salon....
    :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Dude just said with a big smile in an interview a few weeks ago he loves "Fox and Friends" and watches it nearly every morning. Sheep! :smh:

That's an absurd response. TV news broadcasts isn't the same thing as intelligence briefings and access to classified information. If Kelly indeed chooses who gets to meet with Trump and what is discussed, that's serious. Fox, CNN, and the various news networks are designed to shape public opinion, not advise the President.

I think the sad point is that, at least the first few months of his reign he purportedly watched 5 hours of TV news a day. You could actually pay attention to what the talking heads were saying on Morning Joe, Fox/Friends or Hannity and track his tweets. Also, apparently, there was a movement to limit the reading required in the PDB and there was a crew that was tasked daily with getting ego boosting pics and snippets for him to review. Very Kim Jong of him if you ask me.

OK. POTUS have always had their information flow controlled. I think we learned during the first 9 months of DJT's presidency why that is important. I'm hopeful Kelly will continue to control the information flow to Trump to focus only on the important stuff.

Absurd response by me, huh? Read the comment you quoted and stated your agreement to. Cool so mainstream media perspective is now the same as classified intelligence briefings? Keep spinning to fit your narrative, it's amusing. :smile1:

Context is everything. By ALL information, what is obviously meant is business related information such as from advisors and reports - not publically available snippets on TV.

Well, if Kelly is the neocon oriented ideologist I believe him to be, and he voted for Hillary Clinton, of course you want him to control the flow of information that reaches Trump. It would be horrific if an alternate point of view had an opportunity to make a case to the President. No, those guys get fired or forced out.

"Alternate point of view" from Fox or CNN? POTUS should be above watching/commenting on peanut gallery assertions.

I guess you only read my replies to you and not my replies to Brad. Not that I agree with Bannon or Flynn on a lot of things, but people like these (people who hold contrary takes to the three generals) are the type of examples of dissenting views not allowed access.

I have no reason to distrust Kelly. One can assume he's working hard to ensure that facts are making their way to POTUS and keeping the emotional pablum that these news shows have become out of Trump's purview. It's the pablum that have been Trumps most controversial tweets and are beneath the office.

My take is that Trump is quite ignorant about the inner workings of foreign policy. I doubt he has a clue about what Wahhabism is and why that's important. He probably knows little of history relevant to many regions where conflicts are escalating. In short, he's incompetent and must trust his judgement when presented with arguments.

Given that most of his advisers have been targeted and removed and then replaced with establishment figures hostile to Trump's supporters during the campaign, I have to conclude Trump has been reduced to a puppet that serves as a figurehead. Whenever he gets out of line he is slapped down via leaks or pressure brought against anyone still loyal to what he campaigned on.

Basically Trump's influencers now all represent deep state thought. This is information coming from people who either work in DoD or contract with DoD. It is obvious Trump's stance on issues has changed. There must be a rational reason for that. I just gave you one.
