You will get no argument from me on blown coverage and breakdowns. There is no better example of that than the last play of the second half. There is still too much of that carrying over from prior years and I am sure that it will continue to some extent. (Although one of those touchdowns over the middle would have been very hard to defend by any player at any level.)

But if you breakdown the overall play of those guys we saw improvement in many fundamental areas of individual play. If not, we would have seen more SC scores. They are still the achilles heal of the "D", but they are getting better and have something to build on. That's all folks.

1992 John Mackovic? I don't know the details of those games, but nothing between now and then fits.

I'm just worried that Tim Beck is his comfort hire (Shawn Watson).

I hope Strong does well there, but keep in mind that he inherited a team that went 11-2 last year, beating South Carolina in their bowl game. Herman, on the other hand, inherited Strong's crappy 5-7 team.

Strong is on ESPN now, playing on national TV and in front of a home crowd that can on be described as measuring in the dozens.

I didn't realize that NFL game was on. Those unis are so bad, not even Oregon would wear those.

are you suggesting there was insufficient confidence to kick a long PAT for a FG? Then why didn't we simply attempt the 2 point conversion on the TDs we scored?

Fact is ... Herman rightly praised the offense for marching down the field in the opening drive of the 2nd Half ... and kicking a FG. That same offense went farther and got nothing on its first possession of the game ... because of a decision to go for it rather than take the points after a turnover on downs.

It'd just be nice to see integrity demonstrated with admission ... that was a bad decision regardless of the play's outcome. I mean ... if you're gonna GFI, LOOK like you're gonna take the percentage play. If you're gonna go hair on fire, might as well light it up ... nothing to lose, right?

    what's the NFL?

... kidding ... sorta. I watched a handful of games last year after the nonsense about political agenda became the primary and there was no consistency in rule application from the head shed.

I have yet to watch one this year as it started again. Someone post a link when Goodell is replaced and those players/members of that organization are disciplined IAW established organization rules.

Since Coach Herman said he watched part of an NFL game while he ate a sandwich on the plane ride home, it seems we have something else in difference ... although, I have eaten a sandwich on an airplane.

I'd answer that, but you wouldn't like the result of my having answered.

I can neither confirm nor deny. ;)
