If we have any more injuries on any side of the line we are toast

Has he played yet this year? He wasn't on the two-deep, as I recall.

He was one of Charlie's big name recruiting wins. I'm curious what has happened.

Horns didn't need this - they were already dangerously thin at DT. Will be interested as to why he made this decision....

This in all likelihood unless there is a non-football off the field reason.

There may be even more leaving than this list
Including one guy I really thought would be a great one

Man that’s bad when you see it on paper and if Malik and Connor leave also after this season ouch can make a case for wheeler and hill also if they keep it up too many holes to fill

That tweet from Davis is disturbing. 6 transfers out of the 2016 class!

What in the wide-wide world of sports is a goin' on here!?

" ..... First, I am told that Daniels was not a guy the staff wanted to lose. There are always a few guys on campus that a staff, in general, wouldn’t mind leaving to open up scholarship spots for guys that they feel can contribute. I’m told that was not the case with Daniels.

It sounds like this was just a case where Daniels felt he did enough to get a few snaps on the field and was instead relegated to non-travel/scout team.

Things can change quickly but based on what we’ve heard there will likely be some additional players looking to transfer at the end of the season.

It’ll be interesting to see now if Texas looks to go after someone in the JUCO ranks. Whether high school or JUCO, I do believe you’ll start to see some additional DT offers go out. – (Super K)

Look for Chris Warren to transfer, or go pro.

If the coaches are truly regretting this transfer then I hope they learn from it.
Why they wouldn't just give a guy they valued some snaps in during the San Jose game (or the Maryland clusterfuck for that matter - he couldn't have done any worse than the guys in front of him) is beyond me...

Sounds like a lot of people in that class were promised that they would play, and fast. Based on what was at DT when they were recruited, that's not a surprise.

But I have to think that you've got to be able to be a little more patient than to think that you should be getting reps as a redshirt freshman. If they're not rotating their tackles, it's likely because they don't think the quality depth is there.

    # of recruits by year by Alabama: 2012 26, 2013 26, 2014 24, 2015 24, 2016 25, 2107 29. Someone can double check my work. I write this because Alabama has a huge attrition rate. I think most of it is Saban "booting" players off of the team who are not going to be starters by the time they are juniors (Honestly, I do not know). Based upon Alabama, attrition is a good thing. I do not know why I wrote this except to say that I am not sweating a guy who is not on the travel squad leaving after 2 years even if we are thin at a position. I wish some of the WRs who do not see the field would leave.

I recall Mack saying that if a player signed, they would play. Of course that was when UT was blowing people out by the end of the first half.
But I recall some games...even walk ons on both sides of the ball got in the mix.
Mucho playing time for as many as possible adds to overall team moral.
I do know first hand that when folks leave or are asked to leave, false assumptions ALWAYS prevail.
Neither you nor I will ever know the validity of this bragadocious statement, but I would not quit over playing time, I just wouldn’t pack my bags- I would try harder and overcome.

If they don't deserve to play based on their performance then so be it. We complain all the time that in today's world everyone gets a trophy yet when a kid doesn't play we see people questioning the coaches and their motives or expertise. I don't get it folks. Maybe he was not good. Maybe he was a bum in practice. None of us are there. If more transfer then so be it. Herman will have to win with what he has or is left with after they leave. If he doesn't then he will be gone.

I was happy with Herman hire but I too have had my reservations after some of the decisions in the first 3 games. I will reserve my full judgment until the season is complete.

It bothers me, but I don't claim to know the inside info, it might make me feel ok but might not, just don't know. I just don't like it when someone leaves, especially during the season.

The optics are not good. Charlie let a ton of kids go for various reason. Herman is losing a significant amount too. Impossible to know how it will work out in a year or two. We shall see.

It's not about overcoming anymore. It's not about earning it. If it isn't handed to me on a silver platter then it's not my fault, it's the coaches. Sadly, that's what many have been brainwashed to believe nowdays.

I thought there would be more leaving. Herman is developing a disciplined football team. The players will either get on board Herman's program or be gone. I believe there will be a monster recruiting class in 2018 and the players in that class will either get on board Herman's program or be gone. I opine the percentage leaving from the recruiting class will be smaller than the percentage that left from the roster Herman inherited.

never been a fan of running off the young guys when plenty of junior and seniors haven’t even seen the field and won’t, why not invest in the future and let a kid who more than likely has his degree already go. As far as a monster class in 18, if we don’t play better we will be lucky to hang on to the guys we have now.

Alabama can afford to have a huge attrition rate because they truly re-load.
We're still just trying to rebuild, and no one has accused us of "they don't rebuild, they reload" in almost 10 years...

i think it's somewhat valid to say that top programs with good coaches have attrition. i think it's valid to say the attrition rates are higher when new coaches come in.

interesting that they've been most Front 7 D and OL, not skill positions

I wonder if that means Coach McNight is working them too hard for strength and conditioning?? In their eyes not in reality......
