Failed to think about that and it is a very valid point not even an excuse and now I remember some of the comments made by Locke a few days ago you can tell it was heavy on his mind. Yeah we lost and it sucks but it is bigger things to worry about outside of football especially with the things that went on with Harvey . Time will heal all and hopefully these guys bounce back. USC game will more than likely set the tone for the rest of the season like you said. We either show up or get ran out still plenty of football left to go can't let this define the season. If charlie beat a red hot OU with a bunch of freshman Herman can work some magic so it's on to the next one fellas we have at at least 12 more games to go
What really frustrates me the last 5 years...The team never gives up showing great heart, but they really lack a Ray Lewis type of guy to light a fire under them. Baylor, Texas Tech, Iowa state, Kansas, San Jose State: But I get your point.
To be perfectly honest, I believe we give up 60+ with Strong and do not come ANYWHERE close to seeing 41 points on the Texas side of the board. There were a few signs that give reason for optimism, not the least of which is that it did seem like adjustments were made at halftime. We have not seen THAT for many years. Should Texas have won this game? IMO, yes. And I am certainly disappointed that they did not. But I don't place Maryland on the same level as some slack D2 school. I'll be pissed if we do not see improvement on a substantial scale in Game 2, with that improvement including the placement on the field of the most talented players. I don't care about practice...I want the best athletes on the field.
Not just Houston, but any of them in the nearly 60 Counties that have been declared for disaster relief. Texas is a lot more than just Houston, although the national media would have people believe that only Houston was affected. By quick count, it looks like we have close to 25 players on the roster that came from areas with some manner of substantial flood damage, and that is just the ones in Texas. I know we have a few players from other States that the remnants of Harvey dumped on, but unsure what damage might have occurred in their respective hometowns.
WHAT!!! Are you kidding me ... USF would hand us our *** no question. They are more talented ... coaching looks to at best a push .
They were tied 17-17 with the Stony Brook Seawolves in the 4th yesterday. If we go down 0-17 to San Jose Saturday, then I will agree. I agree USF is more talented, but their coaching is bad.
As of now they are 2-0 and a top 20 team let's worry about our own house before we start throwing stones
At least we didn't get upset by a 45 point dog like UNLV did...Howard got them. I think Bailor kicked off at 33 points... Can only think about what a parlay on those two dogs to win would have paid out...
Here come the "Central Florida is underrated" comments. How embarrassing Total yards UCF - 428 Maryland - 197
Most on this board did not jump to defend TH, the coordinators, and the players after the Maryland debacle. Maryland was a three score underdog to us for a reason: they sort of suck. Also, USC didn't look that great against the might Golden Bears of Cal. So I'm sticking to my guns that this staff and team have a lot to prove. Faith is great for church, but for the football field, I need hard, cold evidence. Isn't that why they play the games?
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...ronald-jones-steven-mitchell-jr-porter-gustin USC had 3 starters out today against Cal. Those starters were injured in battle against us. Let's see how the seasons plays out, but I'm not that negative on TH.
Kasim Hill, who got his chance when sophomore Tyrrell Pigrome suffered a season-ending ACL injury in the season-opening win at Texas, sustained what appeared to be a serious right leg injury in the first quarter of what became a shocking 38-10 loss to the Knights. Maryland did play their third string QB, Max Bortenschlager, who finished with a 16.2 QB rating. Problem is, most hornfans posters said in 2013 that QB injuries do not matter and any decent head coach should have three colt mccoys on the depth chart ready to go at all times. So apparently Maryland losing with their third string QB who never played against us means we suck.
Max Bortenschlager? Sounds more like the name of someone who won the drawing to shoot a free throw and half-court shot at a basketball game...
In the fourth quarter they had to play their true freshman who had never taken a college football game snap before. You know he had a very limited playbook, yet our defensive coordinator couldn't come up with a scheme to stop the run. Or put up a serious set of blitzes to confuse him, sack him or force int's.
Seriously? We're still on this? Maybe we can make sure to bring this up again next year in case the team starts off 3-0 and we don't have anything to complain about by then. "Tom Herman, about to accept his conference championship trophy, was accosted by angry Hornfans posters still outraged by a loss to Maryland the previous year in a game where apparently, the Longhorns played poorly against an inferior team." The entire world watched our last two games and noticed that the team wasn't blowing reads and missing gaps like they did in the season opener, which tends to indicate that assignment issues have been addressed and improvement has been made. But by all means, let's keep complaining about the "before" picture.
