USC is only a memory. Well, ok, a pretty sh--ty one. But anyway things are gonna get better my crystal ball says. Horns get well in the land of corn. Horns 31 ISU 17
The positive trend continues, the offense is efficient, and we handle ISU. TX 45 ISU 17 It won't feel that close.
Horns 10 Cyclones 9 We get a defensive TD from ... wait for it ... Holton Hill. A late successful field goal wins it after four earlier misses. The Binder gets ejected in the first half for a questionable personal foul. Collin Johnson is in single coverage against a one-legged pygmy for the entire game and has two passes thrown to him. Tim Beck brings in Brett Robin for four straight shovel passes that are stuffed for a net cumulative loss of 43 yards. The staff is still looking for ways to hand Chris Warren the ball but it turns out to be too complicated, although they expect to have a “package” ready for him near mid-season.
Texas 42 The Big 12, Power 5 school unable to fund a baseball team 24 Iowa State's offense is better this year, but our defense is improving. I see Iowa St loading the box to force the pass and we take advantage. Iowa St's defensive backs will be at a huge disadvantage. Take Texas and give the points.
Horns 27 ISU 17 Should be better than the Halloween Massacre of 2015. Might be in the "UW" column for Ugly Win, but a win nonetheless. I predict Warren gets more than 4 carries.
Iowa State upset Oklahoma State on 2011 on a FRIDAY not a Thursday. I am not sure that Iowa State has any significant wins on a Thursday night so I have no idea why people are so concerned. The 2013 game was tight due to changing defensive coordinators and the fact the staff was all in on preparing for OU. We win this week 49-17.
In his last presser, Tom Herman wondered if we all had PTSD from Ames. Well he is right about me, I do have PTSD. Thanks Mack and Charlie. I am not making any predictions for this team until after they handle ISU. New coaches. Same players though... Not enough data to know if they have exorcised their losing ways and will break the pattern.
This one is my favorite! I'm with Detective on this one - think the Horns prevail, but not enough data to predict a score I'm comfortable with.
I'll play devil's advocate and say we lose. Something like 35-31. ISU's strength is making teams one-dimensional with the passing game. Going on the road on a weeknight in a place where the team hasn't performed well the last two times doesn't bode well for Beck's decision making, let alone our QBs and OL. And while we've improved on D, I'd like to see it rank better than #82 in the nation in pass defense. We gave up too many big plays in crunch time situations against Maryland and USC for anyone to think we won't allow other teams to do so as well. Our FG and KOS situation is a mess and we're one of the most penalized teams in football.
Defense comes to play. Warren, Porter, Heard, and Carter are all involved in the run game. I predict Iowa State comes back some in the second half to make it respectable. 41-17 Horns Win.
I get where you are coming from. Your logic is sound. Anything could happen. We have established no consistency yet. Its basically hope and faith, with a strong dose of optimism and orange cool-aid at work here.
To be redundant, I really believe that we turned the corner in Los Angeles, and I expect our "3-2" team to beat OU on the 14th.
I had no faith in the team going into the Coliseum, but I was wrong: I saw enough that night to make me believe again. Still a work in progress, but this is going to be a team that'll surprise some teams in October. Horns 27, ISU 16.
Even though Boo is our best qb, I think the offense will show some rust with him in there. At best I see an ugly win. Good guys 27 Bad guys 24
Hey, until we break the pattern, I don't blame you. This team has not strung together two good games in a row in a very long time. If the pattern holds and we lose though, I predict our offense will have a decent day and it will be our defense that craps out. That's been the pattern. I win here sure would cure my PCSD ( Post Charlie Stress Disorder)
Mine goes back farther than that. It's been seven years since I've watched a Texas team that I thought I could depend on to show up focused, ready to play and equipped to carry out the game plan against a team that brought its A game. In 2010, would any of us be looking at this Iowa State team as a threat no matter what our team had been doing? That of course is what made the loss that year such a gut punch. Seven years later, I'm not looking past anyone. I'm still surprised at the depth of TH KoolAid that allowed so many to think the Maryland game was going to be a layup.
