Where is all the outrage about Tom Price (a fiscal conservative) spending hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayer's money on private jets? Or does this group only criticize democrats?

Well ... he was held to account, evidently. He's looking for a job, right? Seems like the most flagrant violator was represented in this last POTUS election ... the one who won first place loser ... and she STILL won't go away.

I've actually been laid-up rehabbing a knee ... so I "overdosed" on NetFlix "Narcos" ... which included the Clintons in its latter episode bumper. They've been around too long!

Price's abuse of office/public trust should include jail time.

Thanks for presuming about which everyone should or should not be outraged.

welcome to HornFans ... evidently a lurker, eh?

Skandor, this group doesn't speak with one voice.

As for Price, I'm not throwing a fit about it for a few reasons. First, the government has private jets. I see them flying in and out of Ramstein Airbase everyday. They're intended for somebody. The President doesn't use them. Is it that crazy to think cabinet-level officials could use them? I don't think so.

Second, what law did Price violate? I haven't heard anybody answer that question.

Third, what have past cabinet-level officials done? Have they all flown commercial? I haven't heard that answered.

Is it bad optics and a waste of money? Yes.

And I am consistent. Plenty of people criticized Obama for pricey vacations and playing golf. I generally defended him and dismissed such criticisms.

    Good Morning, Deez!

I defended Obama's golfing, too ... in hopes it'd reduce his opportunity to destroy our Foundings.

New guy with the curious "handle,"

Despite my aforementioned "laid-up" status, I've not paid any attention to what's happening. Sounds like you may be referring to a WING of aircraft used to transport a lot of different folks in the interest of government operations ... and a Cabinet-level Secretary is certainly sufficient to secure such transportation ... and all of 'em have been doing it for ... well, as long as the outfit in Andrews has been in existence. This is their mission. They have a bevy of aircraft and several aircraft types.

    Check 'em out!

Like most things government, there's a legitimate need ... and then that need gets abused into illegitimate uses. Like Dirty Harry, I'm an equal opportunity hater in this regard.

What's tragically humorous ... I knew a guy who was applying to this outfit during the 2008 primaries. Back when #HisSilentinBengHazi had yet to earn her name and was ... similarly ... the presumed favorite to become the Dem nominee to "restore order" to 8 years of the evil party's activity. I told this fella he'd have to watch-out ... he corrected me by advising Slick Willie would be able to "order" a different aircraft type. To which I responded ... yeah, but not his interns. "You'll be the pimp mobile operating out of Van Nuys" The look on his face was priceless.

Of course, I was poking the good chap who has served with distinction and honor ... but at the time, he WAS under the command of these kinds of people.

I can tell you this, if the "Health & Human Services" Secretary had the opportunity to be "the party" for that flying outfit ... that means a LOT of others (incl Pentagon and Congress) have been "staying home" to avail the resources to this HHS Secretary. That position doesn't command airlift ... consider that office a "standby" customer. He doesn't have "walk-up" privileges.

So, while I am unsurprisingly disappointed in what's an apparent abuse of office, like Deez, I'm also aware of "private jets" for government officials being codified in the Law ... which happened under a particular president; hint, the date is in the wiki article.

Your motivation for your inferred allegation to participants in this section of HornFans is somewhat curious to me ... as is your screen name.

My handle is my uncle's wrestling name, he was a professional wrestler. I have been on hornfans for years, used to post on sports forums using jachorn.
Most of the posters here are definitely right of center, which explains why you keep bringing up Clinton. She did not win, Trump did. You should be defending his actions and his cabinet. Tom Price did nothing illegal, just highly unethical, especially calling himself a fiscal conservative. Remember Trump's words "drain the swamp"? Of course, he also said he would not have time to golf, which he does almost every weekend.

wrestling name? cool! Thanks. Appreciate your background. but you did seem a bit aloof. My apologies.

Right of center? Is that a bad thing? Well, yes, yes it is. If we had a conservative federal government most of our problems we experience today wouldn't exist because the excessive Fed wouldn't have been big enough to have created them.

Why must I defend anyone's actions but my own? Perhaps Trump really has changed his philosophy. I've been generally pleased with his actions as POTUS, but that's far from endorsing him. I didn't vote for him because I perceived he IS NOT a conservative.

I followed the campaign promise of "no time for golf" for about 3 months ... and he DIDN'T leave the WH during that time if you'll recall. I knew the statement was akin to a 9 year old promising his dad he'd wash the new car every day to encourage Dad to buy the car. I'm sorry you couldn't discern balderdash from big deals.

My raising the issue of Clinton, #HisSilentinBengHazi is because ... that's who lost ... and that's who's been a far greater abuser of public office ... who STILL won't go away. OH ... and she was relevant to my statement because of the potential for my friend to fly them in the "private jets" about which you apparently have no knowledge of their existence. There are plenty of examples in the Big Gov GOP as well ... this was evidently one of 'em.

So ... sorry to rain on your "you guys are monolithically wrong" parade ...

Still ... I appreciate your screenname now ... why so long to post if you've been here for that long?

Thanks, I did not know about the private jets. I quit posting a few years ago but still followed hornfans. forgot my password and it was easier to create a new username. Huge longhorn fan, started following the horns in early 60s. My house is painted burnt orange. In 1973, when we lost to Miami (before they were good), I threw a shoe through the wall. My parents were not even upset!

yeah ... now if you wanna get your dander up ... the Texas Air Force is almost the equal of the US' ... We can gloat about "being Texas" but it was a very touchy subject when Austin's airport was at Mueller. They didn't appreciate questions about the 1/2 dozen King Airs and a couple of jets ... so State Senators/et al could get "back to the people." Right. Sure.

Since the move to Bergstrom, they've been able to both hide and grow simultaneously. Funny ... I don't think the geography of the State has changed in 30 years ... but I'm sure that I'm the one who is confused.

I have to reach to my senior generation to get back to the 60s ... I was only aware by the early 70s, but was singing The Eyes of Texas standing in the seat of Daddy's 1965 C-20 pickup. It's all good here. Look forward to reading your football posts!

That's crazy. I used to watch him wrestle at the Sam Houston Colosseum back in the 80s. Seems so long ago.

On Price, I am pretty surprised someone could get all the way to this position and still be so careless
    It is kind of shocking
    What a dumbass
I admit I thought Price would be good for the job

I used to work for the Federal Govt and I got called into Main Justice a couple times basically for nothing -- just to explain a couple of stock holdings (something we all had to disclose). But it's another world at what we called the "political" level, as all of us have seen over the past several years with the Clinton Foundation. The same standards that applied to basic federal workers (grunts) do not apply to the political hire level. But to his credit, Trump shut it down here. What more did you want him to do in this circumstance?
