Our on-again off-again offense seems to be "off" right now. 5 runs in 3 games. Yeesh...

A win in the playoffs is all you are looking for Phil.

Yeah, but he has a valid point about the anemic hitting this series...I've lost track of the number of times they left the bases loaded. So, while any win is a good win, it is not good to leave a lot of runners stranded as you get blown out.

Saving grace is that last night is just one game. Interestingly enough, Game 3 of the Division Series is ALSO the game where they got blown out...

You Astros fans are going to have to switch from regular season mode to playoff mode. Win 4 games with one hit is as good as winning them with 10 hits a game. Every game is different; just win the game.

Did you watch the game last night? The 'stros had opportunities to get back in the game. They failed...miserably. Their saving grace is that tonight is a new day. But poor performances can feed off of each other as people start pressing, just as the red-hot hitting can fuel the others on the team by allowing the pressure to ease. Factor in the potential pucker factor given what is at stake and it DOES cause some concern.

I am curious how much of the poor performance last night was weather-related...both cold and rain.

I watched every pitch. You are missing my point. You cannot let last night affect tonight. Different pitchers and a better understanding of the stadium and surrounding environment. The Astros only goal is to score 1 more run than the Yankees.

You are right VH of course, but I've been an Astros fan as long as they have existed and we are just not used to winning these things. Doom and gloom predictions sometimes come out.

This Astros team is better than prior teams.

Was better, not is better. The last 2.5 games have been played by the same old Astros

Yankees in 6. Astros won’t be in striking distance of another win. I’ll watch, but I don’t know why.

Didn’t the Rockets win two, then lose three in New York then win two in Houston against Patrick Ewing ?

    No. The Rockets won games 1, 3, 6 & 7. Link.

I turned off the game on Tuesday and did not watch last night at all. I can't take the stress. Even the games we won, we scored 2 runs each. It's bad.

It is time to revisit my concern over the hitting woes?

Or is my concern still missing the goal of the playoffs?

Not really. Pitching and defense wins championships because you cannot count on hitting. The Astro's have the pitching edge in game 6. Win that game and the mental dynamics will change for the better.

I don’t the the decision to pull Verlander after 7. Unless he told Hinch he was done, he should’ve pitched the 8th.

With Morton starting, I don't see him going more than about three innings outside of a no-no going. As strong as McCullers looked the other night, I could see him coming in for four through six, Peacock in the 7th, anyone but Liriano in the 8th and then Giles to close the 9th. And, if the game went extra innings, it would NOT surprise me to see someone like Keuchel or even Verlander come in, not unlike Clemens a decade ago.
