With the likelihood of a concussion to Ehlinger, he's a heartbeat away from his old job, eh?? His skill set seems to fit the Greg Ward Jr/JT Barrett mold, anyway.. And he can throw bubble screens and hitches.
Sam was held out of practice Sunday being evaluated for head injury. Shack has a similar issue. Mapps has a knee injury no word yet as to the extent. Time to get Heard ready to go. Shane’s status - don’t know if he can play or if thr shoulder is still a problem.
Heard should have been getting ready the day Herman has that first team meeting. He knew he only had 2 QB’s on ship
If Shane can't go, this could get really ugly. Sam played the whole game. When is he supposed to have suffered a concussion?
I believe it was in overtime. He was tackled out of bounds, slamming his head on the ground again. You could tell he almost didn't get up and then willed himself back on the field. Maybe two plays later he floats the interception into the endzone. He may be passing whatever tests they give him but he is suffering some big blows to the head the last couple of games.
Heard has experience at quarterback and is mobile. Throw in the wildcat with Lil Jordan and you may have a potentially potent rushing attack.
Heard is a running QB who knows how to slip the direct hit and soften the blow. He isn't going to bull charge into the tackler for the extra two yards. That will be fine, since he is the QB and not the FB. We need a fully functional, sharp focused, fully alert QB taking every snap. And Heard can pass OK. Doesn't need to be a great passer this week, I hope! We are now depending our our Defense to win games. That is what its come to.
I think "we" on this Board should be the OC by committee going forward. In fact, help me define the responsibilities of each Hornfan participant. For example -- and I expect no objection to this assignment -- I believe that SabreHorn should be responsible for working the refs during the game and, if necessary, later the administration. (Lord help us.) Now, who makes the Shane/Sam/Jerod call? Next, the personal packages? RBs? Play selection? The "Foreman" decision? (You'll need a Twitter account.) I volunteer to handle the post game presser. Although, candidly, anyone could handle the softballs being lobbed after each game. I will just need the latest Nike Dri-Fit polo. The size is large, by the way. Look, if we work together as a team, I am expecting a major uptick in point production.
I'm thinking that JoeFan should be the keeper of the Binder. Not only does he know what to do on each play and can predict the outcome with a very high degree of statistical accuracy, but also he can assess what each player did in similar circumstances back in high school and probably even back to grade school.
I volunteer to handle the "Foreman decision". I'll bring Mack with me, explaining that we're talking to all the parents in separate meetings, will get to your son soon, we promise...
I'll be the Sideline Coordinator and put an end to this nonsense.... It hasn't intimidated our opponents and it certainly hasn't inspired our offense. It just looks like a bunch of tweeners who put their jocks straps on for the first time. *Note: If I've offended anyone, I truly regret your offense.
Can I be on the sidelines doing the clapping? No one realizes how much "the kids" miss that. Plus, it's pretty much the only thing I am qualified to do.
I nominate Dionysus to be the Disposition, Attitude, and Sideline Management coach. The "Adherance" Coach. Hey, with 50 or so Hornfanners on the sideline, avoiding "spilling onto the field" penalties will be a challenge. Further, I have full confidence -- based on his unyielding "Move It To The West Mall" declarations, that Dionysus will have little tolerance for false starts, holding and delay of game penalties, bad snaps and faux fighting (see DeShon Elliott two years ago in Waco).
I believe the concussion occurred in the fourth quarter of the RRR game. The kid was out cold for 30-60 seconds.
With what is happening to our QBs, it really is important to have 3 QBs to be ready to play. Just my two cents.
Watch #69 knock the crap out of the coach or whoever he is. Watching his face, it looks like he does it on purpose...
You know this doesn't bother me. These guys are having fun and that's what it's all about. It seems to get some of the fans excited (maybe not enough, but...). It does nothing for me, but I enjoy watching them have fun.
I was at the game but the replay showed his eyes rolled back and his body in a contorted position that a person who is conscious would not maintain. The replay also showed TH standing over him in full view. I am sure he was shocked that he was medically cleared a few minutes later after what he just witnessed.
