Offense: What the f**k are you looking at?

Defense: That's a **** grade that I'll happily take considering what they did. That was the single greatest example of bend-but-don't-break I've ever seen and it deserved a congressional medal.

Special Teams: This unit would have been responsible for the win had they ended up coming through. I never thought I'd say this, but Dickson has surpassed Erxleben (I await anyone who disagrees with an internet equivalent of a metal baseball bat wrapped in AIDS-infected hypodermic needles and barbed wire). He damn near won that game by himself by his repeated flipping of the field against those guys. Holding an offense like that to just 10 measly little points in regulation is nothing short of heroic, but it takes field position to make it happen (especially when you're not 3-and-outing them as we were not) and Dickson was the strongest component in making that happen.

If I am interpreting the results correctly, this week’s analysis seems to suggest offensive concerns.

I can’t remember a time a Texas offense has played so poorly as I saw yesterday. Still way to many blown assignments, mistakes, and penalties. If this unit plays like that this coming Saturday, Baylor is going to be a real struggle.

I’m only an internet & armchair coach but from my comfy chair it appears the offensive staff isn’t trying to do anything even a little bit different. I realize we are down to bare bones along the O-Line, but am I to believe there’s nothing the offensive staff can do to compensate for this deficiency? Would it be better to have a TE on the line just to protect the edges or keep our RB in the backfield to pick up a rusher? I’m just spitballing the ******** i yell at the TV while I’m angry, disgusted & or confused.

Any real coach or student of the game , feel free to chime in...

Me either, regarding remembering (or not) a worse Offensive game. And then on that hot fudge sundae of an offensive sh-t sto-m, Sam puts the cherry on top with the worst lob of a floating turde to the osu d-back you could ever imagine to end the game. My o my!

Oh, I do ... Akers post Earl has oodles of examples in our decade of mediocrity (seems we're doing our best to duplicate that result, eh?) ... this is where Erksleben became a hero, much like Dickenson is becoming this year.

I haven't seen the "official word" but after watching the replay (I overcame the booze spilling incident as I got to attend a game with my brother for the first time in ... well, IDK how long it's been) last night at home, I'm convinced Sam was trying to hit Leonard in the Left corner as Darion had his guy beat pretty handily running across the back of the end zone and Sam just made a bad throw ... under significant pressure.

I also saw the defender was on Heard ... had pushed Heard OOB and the lob gave him time to the ball. Live, I thought the defender was just "center fielding" in the front of the end zone ... didn't see Heard.

If if and buts were candy/nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas ... BUT ... IF Sam is able to zip that thing just a little bit flatter and deeper ... Leonard catches the game-winning pass and this board's threads have completely different content. I could be wrong.

In the pressure after the game, Sam was asked about it and he didn't mention that he saw Leonard and was trying to hit him. Sam was unclear about what he was doing. I think now we have pretty decent evidence that he was not quite right after his head was banged to the ground on the rollout right a couple of plays earlier. Two weeks in a row Sam has been impaired after his head has been slammed to the turf.

Really? That's what you got from that? :brickwall:
It's been said before, but I really hope that our coaches read this forum regularly.
Thanks for the graveyard humor, Dion. It's about the only kind that's left for us.

I say this politely yes you are wrong. i re-watched the whole game last night. Sam threw the ball when a defensive lineman was bearing down on him. He threw the ball because he had to do something with it. But the receiver coming across the back of the end zone was way to far away to have a chance at catching the ball. He didn't have an opportunity to be a factor on that play. Sam had no time to wait for Leonard to get to that corner and he didn't even see him, so it was not "a bad throw to Leonard" as much as just throwing an ill-advised pass. Clearly, throwing the ball out the back of the end zone was the proper move.

Even falling down would have been ok - ball would be on the left hash and still a very short FG.

Sam may not have seen him, but Leonard already had separation when Sam threw the ball ... just didn't throw it far enough.

It's OK ... I can admit I'm wrong ... it happened one other time about 25 years ago ... but I was really right when I thought I was wrong. :p
