Missouri came on strong towards the end of the year and was scoring a lot of points.
We better be putting together a game plan to score, as well.
I think that calls for Boo to start.
It seems to me you would game plan differently for each QB.

If it were me, I wouldn't say anything about who will start to anyone other than the team until game time. Why would you want to help your opponent prepare?

That said, every QB, even Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, etc., all have a sack rate 3x higher than average when they're in a 3rd and long scenario and Shane has been in that situation a whole lot due to penalties. I don't know if the much higher penalty rate under Shane is something he created or just bad luck, but I don't think the sack rate is a a valid statistical comparison given the true underlying variables.

A QB shouldn't be pulled after 1 series when he almost overcomes 2nd and 25.

In the last 10 years the NFL and major D-1 programs have been littered with starting quarterbacks who played high school football in the state of Texas. The Longhorns have not had a clear leader at that position since Colt went down against Alabama in 2010.

Mack did not have a game experienced replacement when he lost Colt during that game and it not only cost him the NC, but by throwing a freshman into that environment he may have damaged him. It certainly did nothing for his confidence. Then he says no to top quarterback prospects because he wants to run with Ash who was not proven as the best of breed and certainly had the health issues. I think that window of recruiting absence has carried over.

Charlie inherits a monster of a 2-A athlete with no D-1 quarterback credentials and then starts a freshman, not unlike what Tom has done this year. And what else is on the bench? The talk now is who should start and the answer is neither are clearly in the lead. Both may be very good, but they need more time. Sam is a true freshman and Boo did not get enough work this year. I like Boo a lot and hope he stays a Longhorn. I feel the same about Sam.

Perhaps better offensive line play will compensate. Hope so.

People keep saying that. Doesn't make it true. What they should say is "when you have two QBs and neither one of them outplays the other one, you don't have one." I'd be on board with that.

Buechele seems to be scared to let it fly and Ehlinger lets it fly without worrying about the consequence.
In this game I think let it fly.

Neither one of these guys are very good and neither one are going to be starting by the end of next season so let them both play and have fun!

And I think Missouri wins the game in what is a totally meaningless, bull shiet bowl game that doesn't matter.

I'm still in the "when you have two quarterbacks with health issues, playing only one gets you less than one" camp. Play both

Wow! Already setting up the defense for a loss?
    "Meaningless game, didn't matter anyway."
    ********.
    Win this ************.
Hope Herman doesn't have that attitude.
And other QBs aren't on campus yet.
They could be a total bust at college level for all we know.

Dude....if you read what Ive said, the talent on this team is no better than a 4-6 win team. And who gives a ----- about the Texas bowl when you're 6-6.

Like a lot of jr, high girls might say...bowl game schmo game

As the Dude would say, "That's like, you're opinion man."
Just because you say that doesn't make it so. And I disagree.

    I care.
    I hope the team cares.
    I hope the coaches care.
It's a nationally televised game against a former B12 opponent we used to kick around.
I want to kick their ***.
And recruits will be watching, as well.

And as anybody that knows and does this for a LIVING, my opinion on this being a 4-6 win team is exactly how the people that know and do this for a living felt. So your opinion dog is just yours too, unless like i said before you're pregnant and then i could guess it might count for 2. And if Detective keeps climbing on your shoulders it would count for 3.

I think ending the season with a win and an overall winning record is important. Anytime you suit up for the Texas Longhorns, it is important.

Let it fly resulted in 1/3 of the team's losses this year. That's too high a price to pay. He "lets it fly" right into coverage because he can't read coverage, can't anticipate where the D backs will be well enough to be the starter in a passing offense.

Put a different offense together, like Snyder at KSU, and Sam is the man. Sam is not the man in our current offense.

I've moved from being deeply entrenched in the Ehlinger camp to believing that Buechele should be the starter against Missouri.

For me it's simple. Ehlinger's propensity to make catastrophic mistakes late in a game outweighs his potential heroics. I was deeply on board after USC and OU, skeptical after OSU, and off the bandwagon since.

Buechele can be effective. Perhaps very effective. When or if Sam matures he "could" be something very special. But I am genuinely concerned as to whether or not he has what it takes between the ears to ever get there.

This is getting embarrassing. Usually when you get an erection in class, you try to hide. But you keep volunteering to go up to the blackboard with your erection for Tom hetman proudly on display.

I was at that game and except for a sack towards the end in which he came TOTALLY unimpeded, we still had that game won. I will never blame GG for that loss. He played a great game in my opinion...

Buechele signature win is against Iowa State with the long haired QB. He couldn't get a win against freaking Maryland and he couldn't do much against a terrible Kansas team. So he hasn't really done much. The old Buechele isn't there. Maybe he can find it again. But I haven't seen it yet.

Regarding the Texas bowl....all Games at UT matter. Plat hard and kick ***.

I do not blame him for the loss either. I do blame Mack for having to insert him in a NC game without enough prior game experience. I agree that after he settled down he did pretty darn good.

However, the shuttle pass intercepted for a touchdown in the first half and the wide open reciever in the left side of the field that he missed on the sack were game changers. He just got put into a difficult situation. I think that getting to that game without a more game experienced backup was inexcusable.

The shovel pass wasn't on Gilbert, it bounced off DJ Monroe's chest. That's on Monroe. And maybe a little on Mack+Greg for trying a finesse play from one freshman to another (and a finesse play generally meant to counteract a strong pass rush, which wasn't the case at that time anyway).
