Michigan’s in foul trouble early. Really some ugly basketball happening right now.

Texas has no offense without Jones. This is painful to watch. Don't think texas has enough offense to win this game.

This has gone from bad to worse. Horns have missed at least three lay ups. Do they even run a half court offense? No movement or off ball cutters. Michigan has movement and gets open looks.

Michigan is now carving up the Texas defense.

D is dragging *** too. I feel like the best skill of this team is drawing fouls. Too bad we only shoot 60% from the charity stripe.

Spotted em’ 12 points for the 2nd half. Way to go. That was absolute dog ****. Easily the worst first half of basketball I’ve seen Texas play all season. No offense. No defense. No intensity. No Jones. I guess that’s means we’re just going to lay down and die...

Why is it so hard to recruit players that can shoot(including free throws)? It's been like this for years. Even the bad teams usually have one or two that can shoot.

About as ugly as it could get. Texas has zero and I mean zero shooters without Jones. Even so, between missed easy shots and missed free throws, texas left 8-10 points out there.

Throwing out some positive vibes. Let’s go Horns. Where’s caryhorns optimism when we need it!!!?

We're still too dependent in this roster on guys who aren't true basketball players. Guys who can jump, run, and sometimes shoot, but there aren't any non-freshmen guys except Dylan on this team that are legit basketball players.

The game turned out about the way I thought it would. Without our most consistent shooter/scorer we lost by 7. I thought it would be between 5 and 10.

We missed Jones's shooting, yes. But we also missed the effect he has on our total offense: the movement, spacing and his drives and dishes. Jones' presence makes everyone else better. He opens up Roach's lanes to the hoop. He draws defenders further away from Bamba and Osetkowski.

Michigan is a good team, well coached. We need all hands on deck to beat them.

We don't have anyone who comes in and gives us what Jones can.

If we play them at in the March tourney with a full roster of healthy players, the score will be reversed. We would win by 5 to 7 points.

We made two baskets in the first 9:46 of the game. Two. No FTs either. Not that Michigan did much better, but Jesus H. Christ.

It was shades of last season. Without any threats from outside the paint, including a couple of ill-advised chunks by Bamba, we looked clueless. Roach finally got marching orders to take it inside where he didn't have any threats whenever he stepped back and shot.

Sims looked uncharacteristically weak. Against Duke and Gonzaga, I figured he would be our tough guy on the block. 1 Reb, 2 fouls.

Coleman and Davis were just killing us on shot selection. I'm not sure if they've watched too much NBA midrange stuff but damn.

Shaka's weakness may be his complete unwillingness to give up on guys, and that's commendable. He needs to give up on the idea that Davis is a plus player. It hurt us badly on Tuesday night. You can't have guys that it's a coin-flip at best as to whether they will add anything to the team when they go out on any given night.

At some point, he has to get that for whatever reason, no matter what they may be showing in practice, they're not a three-point shooting team. Situations where guys are shooting 3s at any point other than the last 5 seconds of the shot clock should be limited to Dylan, and that's really about it. Roach does not need to be taking threes - especially when he has room to dribble in about 5 feet. These guys have to be coached to take mid-range jumpers.

At some point, Bamba has to start playing with some intent. I thought he was absolutely awful last night. He blocks shots because he has long arms. He doesn't work on offense, he just tosses shots up in the lane when he's not set up to shoot. He's not particularly good on defense when he can't block the shot.

I find myself asking whether it's better to have Jacob Young ducking his head and careening out of control down the lane than it is to have someone else circle the perimeter for 20 seconds and then chuck a 3.

It was just a really frustrating performance all the way around.

    THIS

Eric Davis’ 0-5, 0-3 and a handful of unnecessary fouls needed to be addressed. Another correction I didn’t see. At what point does the coach evaluate his players and think about whether playing them is helping or hurting us?

Jacob Young didn’t exactly light up, (2-5), but played solid D and made two crucial momentum shift buckets on aggressive drives. One off a steal. He’s the only guy bedsides Jones that can penetrate, albeit a little wild, he protects the ball through acceleration and makes creative shots away from defenders. He plays with intensity and high energy. I’d honestly rather see him getting more minutes at point than Coleman at this point. Coleman has zero confidence shooting the ball inside. You cannot have a PG that's afraid to shoot inside or penetrate. If he's getting 10+ assists and 5+ boards a game, ok. But Coleman absolutely needs to be scoring, or assisting, (or both) consistently.

In addition to weak and inconsistent guard play, were seeing a lack of correction/adjustment on both sides of the ball. Michigan’s post defense is notoriously inept and yet somehow they managed to cheat on our bigs the entire first half, despite being in foul trouble. A lot of that had to do with Belien knowing we can’t shoot the ball from anywhere of course. But what’s most concerning is to see how Shaka didn’t adjust in the final stretch when Wagner left the game with an injury and Robinson was sitting out in Foul trouble. No adjustment. Michigan was totally exposed down low and yet we continued to struggle to get the ball inside, guard penetrate or get rebounds. Why is this? Scheme (or lack of scheme). I don’t buy that this group of players can be this ineffective on offense by nature. We have talented-athletic players. They just look lost, most of the time. Gameball to Dylan, again, for showing up big and trying to lead the team. As inattentive as Mo is everywhere, I'll give him credit for his consistency. We know he's good for 10pts-10reb and 4 blocks a game. One would think we could run a scheme around Mo and Dylan.

Andrew Jones is not the engine of this team. He's one guy of many. His injury is unfortunate and he's an integral component for sure. But that's sports. That's life. Soldiers fall and the platoon moves forward. Players get hurt, foul out, transfer, get suspended; we know these issues all too well. It's how coaches and players respond to the adversity that makes them great (or average). Michigan didn't play that well - they suck on the road. We could have and should have won this game; with or without Andrew.

Yes, and Young is a decent free throw shooter; and he will be fouled on the drives to the hoop and get to the line. Penetration to the hoop, float it to the hole, get fouled, make a free throw.

Also this opens up all kinds of other things, drop it to a big, lob it off the drive, kick it to an open shooter, etc.
