Uhhhh... our team is pretty much putting on a clinic. It's almost over. Just wondering if anyone noticed.

I wish we could get 17 NBA scouts in the stands every night.

Well, sorry I pulled the trigger on Smart after the Tenn State game. Did not see the same team. I should have waited till the season was winding down.

Lot's of superlatives to hand out, but I was most pleased with Davis. When he first came in, he turned the ball over but then he turned into the freshman Davis.

The not great category is Bamba's shots beyond the FT line. I think he is 1 for the season. Just a sticky point since he had a great game. Banks and Simms were not great. Everything else was really good.

To everyone, Merry Christmas and a happy new year. To the fellow silver hairs, have a healthy New Year,

I didn't watch the entire game but the ten minutes before the half ended were amazing. The team is so athletic. Fast and long and jumping out of gym. They looked great. Good victory.

Great team win. Still can't effin feed the post. And what's with Osetkowski continuing to jack up 3s?

Agree on all counts^^^. It was a very important win. I just can't get too excited though, and I feel a little guilty about that.

Too many unforced errors, poor shot selection, and still not much in the half court offense. They are too late on the passes down low to Mo and O. The big guys are open early, but the guards wait too long to get the pass to them, which usually results in a turnover. On the other hand, guys were Making some late in the shot clock 3 pointers.

But the biggest help may have been the low energy game that Bama played. We out hustled them the whole game.

If we can jack up threes and make 33% of them and have more assists than turnovers we will play most teams close. Those are big ifs. The team did make some long jumpers tonight, and that was huge.

Good signs in this game: Bamba came to life, Davis was decent; Young is playing well; defense still looking good, free throw shooting improved; Mo stayed out of foul trouble; team hit clutch jump shots.

I want to be optimistic and act like we can sustain this level of play but deep down it feels like that one night a month wifey wants to dress slutty and act frisky. Have your fun then it’s back to the same old yoga pants and tattered sweatshirts.

Completely different team and effort than we saw Monday, if they can be consistent they have a chance in every game left on a packed schedule, but sadly as stacked as the Big XII is, they have shown they could also lose every game left on their schedule.

The biggest difference that I saw was an attitude/edge that has been missing since the Duke and Zags games. Not sure what lit a fire under Bamba. Roach was playing his *** off. And, I have to give Jacob Young some credit - he always plays with a chip on his shoulder, but I thought he we more under control and using it to pump up his teammates.

Look we're not just going to suddenly be a good shooting team. But if they can consistently play with heart and attitude, then we can win a lot of games.

Great win for the Horns. I'm still in the wait and see category on Smart. Bama did not play very well, but I haven't seen them before so I'll credit the Texas D for that as it was raining blocked shots on Bama.

By the way just noticed that Barnes has what was a dumpster fire at Tennessee ranked 21. I think he needed a change as did we but he is a good coach in spite of his perceived offensive shortcomings.

Barnes is and was an excellent coach. As you note, the program just got stale and a change of scenery was good for both parties.

We show up at #20 in this Andy Katz ranking
    3 Big 12 teams in top 10

    20. Texas (NR): The Longhorns have had consistently good play from Andrew Jones (pre injury), Dylan Osetkowski and Kerwin Roach. But no one on the Longhorns can be as much a difference maker when he’s on as Mo Bamba. He was on in the win over Alabama in Birmingham with 17 points, 11 boards and five blocks in the 15-point victory. Bamba can be the difference if he can handle the physicality of Udoka Azubuike in the Big 12 opener against Kansas Friday.
