Damn, no way they should have lost this game.

Do we have anyone coaching Bamba? What is he doing beyond the top of the key dribbling. Why is he out there except to set screens and then breaking to the basket. Damn.

Why did he not break for the basket when Coleman penetrated and Bamba's man collapsed on Coleman. He could have lobed to him instead of charging....game over.

OKst is really a bad basketball team with a 1st year head coach. No way we should have lost that game. Up 12 points with 5 to play we just gave up. We didn’t defend and they made shots. They pressed us and we folded.

Really poor adjustments again tonight. No fluidity, no consistency, poor execution, no fundamentals, just ho-hum. OKst shot 37% from FG we shot 41%. We outrebounded them 41-28 We had 14 TOs to their 7. They scored on most of our turnovers. 59% FT shooting is what lost the game for us IMO. Really piss poor.

I agree. Guards that cannot shot free throws, I don't get it. TTU was a one point in the 2nd half 22 of 24. That was not just their guards, that was the team. Dylan was 4 of 7. Davus played out of his mind, glad to see two in a row for him.

We needed to sweep Iowas State and Okie lite because there is so much power at the top of the BIG 12. 4 teams are 4 and 1. TCU is 1 and 4, guess it could be worse.

Both the basketball and football teams this season have suffered from severe obstacles; namely injuries/illness. The basketball team is apparently down to only seven viable players (whatever happened to James Banks?) and the football team of course had the catastrophic losses on the offensive line. These setbacks are virtually insurmountable. Saying that we also seem to have a similar problem on the offensive side of the ball. Neither Shaka or Beck are able to demonstrate any evidence of technical proficiency.

I hated losing that game, we needed to win it. I guess the bottom line is they just ran out of gas after the long win on Wednesday. Dylan is a better free throw shooter that 4 of 7. We just needed to sweep ISU and OSU.

This^^^ I think this was Bamba's worst game of the year. He turned it over off his dribble in the paint twice in the last few minutes while osu was climbing back into it. Our guys were dribbling it off their feet, turning it over to let osu get chances.

There were no lobs to our big guys. None. Although our front line is literally head and shoulders above osu. There is not one person on osu's front that I would trade for Bamba, Simms, or Osetkowsky.

Simms, to me, was smarter and more effective in the paint on offense than Bamba. Bamba was effective on defense until he got his fourth foul. That hurt.

^^^In large part it came down to our struggling half court offense. What to do when Bamba is double teamed?? Shaka had no answers. We essentially have no dependable half court offense to protect the ball and/or get a decent look at the hoop. Its dribble until whoever has the ball with the clock winding down throws up a prayer. Tonight the prayer was not answered.

This game ended as poorly as the tcu game ended well. How do we scrape out a win over wvu or ttu?

Some people say SS is like Charlie Strong. I think he's more like Tom Herman, losing games that could have easily been won just out of shear stupidity.

This game was just like many others. Double digit lead with 10+ minutes to go and the offense just froze up wasting the lead. We were lucky to have a layup missed against TCU to get the win.

I don't think having only 7 scholarship players is quite like the football injuries on the O-line, but it does have some effect. Bottom line is we played the same game before the injuries so I have a hard time blaming that for what happened last night.

But Tom Herman kept the team in every single game with a chance to win unlike Charlie (you could argue we weren't really in the TCU game but it wasn't a blowout). There was a huge leap of improvement in year one for Herman vs year three for Charlie just being another sloppy 5 win season. Shaka's team talent is improving as years go by, but team play is just not very good.

After checking the box score the assist to turnover ration jumped out at me.
We more than double osu in turnovers. UT 15; osu 7
O had 4 turnovers, Bamba 3 and Coleman 4 (only 5 assists for our point guard)

Won't win many games turning it over like that.

Good point! TH made enough internal improvements to make us a 10 win team, but due to his shear arrogance and stupidity we only won 7.

I know, I know, the binder doesn't lie. :brickwall: I suppose my point is that they were on the cusp this year and IF he is the coach he thinks he is next year will show even more improvement as he learns from his mensa mistakes. Shaka's teams just keep on looking the same so it's hard to compare a one year coach to a three year coach. If Herman ends up 7-6 making the same mistakes next year I may just give up and assume our athletic programs are cursed for eternity.
