I know a lot of us are speculating what's going on with Rellah, and while I have nothing to offer in that aspect, I did find this clip from USA basketball tryouts a couple of years ago. She was moved up from the U16 team to the U18. I had not seen Rellah play before I watched her in the McD All American game, so I wasn't sure what to expect from her. Wonder if we will be able to get her in that kind of shape again.

    :e-thinking:
Wow, that's......a different level of fitness than what we see now.

I have no doubt that we will see that by next season if she follows the pattern of our other frosh in their progression from year one to year two in their fitness.

I was watching Karen Aston's weekly show. They were showing the team at a meeting going over Tech's tendencies. Listening to the coaches analysis with the team, you could see Rellah in the back in one scene. So, what do I take away from that? Still involved with the team, even as they prepare for an opponent that she's been told she won't be traveling to play against.

Also, during warmups for the UConn game, Rellah was out there giving teammates slaps on the back or hand slaps as they were coming back from their warmup layups to the hoop. Smiling, encouraging her teammates.

I've noticed this as well which is what makes me think its just an injury or health situation they want to keep quiet for some reason. Not sure what kind of punishment it would be in order to have her involved with the team but not traveling.

Well........UT is notoriously tight-lipped about injuries, which makes things guess-work. For instance, Destiny is hurt, but they wont' tell us, but she travels to away games with the team. I've considered the "she's hurt" aspect for Rellah, but if Destiny and an obviously-not-ready to play player such as Audrey-Anne travels to Lubbock, I think Rellah would have too

Maybe you meant Khaleann, and she did play.

That's true about Rellah. She does seem involved and happy, so it's difficult to say with certainty why she is not playing. It could also be a situation, if an injury, where they did not feel it necessary for her to travel and possibly not get the treatment needed on the road as well as she would at home??

BTW, if you were talking about Audrey-Ann's sister, she did play for the first time in a couple of months. Hopefully, Destiny will soon be on the court as well from her tweets.

It was nice to see Khaleann back in action, but especially nice to see her hit that 3! Was that her first made 3 of the season?

I also saw the clip of Rellah prepping for the Tech game and saw her on the court before the UCONN game dribbling the ball while the team was stretching, she was joking around with some other people on the court and looked to be in a good mood.

Seems like it has occasionally happened in the past that a player was DNP for a period of time because of academics. We have speculated about everything else with Rellah. Anyone wonder if academics might be the issue?

I've been leaning towards this idea as well. The reasons for not playing:
    1) poor skills - no
    2) injury - although I said their tight-lipped they do say occasionally (about a player), "She's a little banged up right now". So, no.
    3) attitude - from just visual observation pre-game, no
    4) stamina - no. wouldn't keep you from taking her along on road trips
    5) academics - probably, but still a guess. It would make sense that maybe she's being held out until some set of grades come in and her situation changes

That being said, it's all speculation. I know that some on this board go to the practices and they are VERY strict about pictures and relaying specifics about what they see. i.e. does Rellah practice as if there's nothing special going on?

I remember when Coach A suspended Chasity Fussell and Nneka Enemkpali for a road game against Kansas; we got throttled.

But, she did state "suspended", not "coach's decision".

Rellah is still on the roster so, for now, we just need to trust that a very professional staff and head coach know exactly what they are doing.

0 of 5 until that shot, but she was 2 or 2, one right after the other, in the exhibition game. (Can't remember who we were playing.)

I think Rellah got yanked for a “matador” defensive play in the lane on her part, and not making a Trey (but my memory could be off).

I also trust the Texas staff to do what is absolutely the very best for the team and players. What other motive would they be working from?

looks like, at least a week ago, the media also didn't know why Rellah was not playing. From Bohl's column last week:

And that's why I no longer have a subscription to the Statesman. The information he provided is weaker than the info we can get off this forum. If they had someone actually assigned to covering the Texas WBB, then they would ask the coaches, "Why hasn't Rellah played" instead of just, "hmmm, curious she hasn't played".

    Lame.

then again, coaches may speak to them off the record same as they ask people attending practices to not post anything specific about the practice. Information about anything concerning a student is strictly limited to program and media unless the student athlete decides to make a public statement or tweets about it.

They are not investigative reporters. It's a relationship built on trust between the coaches and the reporter.

There are plenty of meet and greet after early weekend games where fans can walk up to a coach and ask their questions. I am pretty sure that asking about Rellah would result in a general, vague answer as it should, given current privacy laws.

So after watching KA's media availability from earlier today, I am convinced that the media knows what is going on with Rellah because there's no other explanation for them not asking that question. Especially with Baylor being the next opponent and seeing how many times they brought up "post play"

One thing my seatmate told me, who was there for the entire Tina Q&A was that Tina said:
    1) Status on Destiny
    2) Status on Chazz
    3) "And we hope to get Rellah back in about a week"

My seatmate said that it was interesting in that it was as part of a medical report. So [shrug] take it as it came...

Good news on Rellah. What was the status of Destiny and Chaz? I know it was reported that Destiny has been battling tendinitis but is there a timeline for her to be back in action in games?

I assume Chaz is rebounding from the flu and will be back on the court soon.
