1 for 10 start. Bamba’s playing at 50% Health with a toe injury apparently. Not sure why Shakas dumb *** is forcing his presence - we’d be better off with Sims in. This team is just a flaming bag of dog ****. What an unbelievable disaster this Smart era of basketball has been. Julardi has us First 4 out. We need a new HC. Stat.

Just in case we may have doubted whether the roast was well done, Roach turns it over three times. Why is he handling the ball?

Our only points in the 2nd half so far have been two free throws. We are 0 for whatever. No, nada, zip zero for the horns.

Both those 3 pt fouls were about as total crap as you'll ever see. Gives OSU 6 pts and only reason they are in the game. Total bull ****.

One of these days you guys will learn. When you have a bi-polar team, never make assumptions early.

That was a must win. We’re still probably first 4 out but way to salvage a shred of dignity by not getting swept by Okie lite.

How much would it have sucked if that heave had been about six inches to the right....

I thought the second one was a stupid foul but on the replay there was definitely some acting going on.

Hold the FORK!! Its not done yet!!

How they won that game, really, I have no idea. Mistakes galore, us fouling their 3 point shooters; give it to Young and Sims and the Roach (??, yes Roach) sinking a clutch winner.

No bamba, no Davis, no Jones. Three starters out. Un be lieve able.

It helped that OSU's not a great team, although they do have flashes. It's funny how this team looks totally different when someone knocks down a three every once in a while, we don't make stupid passes in the lane, and Jerico Sims gets to go one-on-one with someone in the paint and doesn't try to dribble drive.

It was a good win, but they have to do better. There was some horrible basketball sandwiched in between some play that ranged from acceptable to solid. If we could only take Good Jacob Young and dissect him from Bad Jacob Young, and bench the second guy, the first one's a pretty valuable player.

Still alive, go 1-1 next two and win one in Big 12 tourney and we’re in for sure.

Doesn’t O have solid post moves? I remember seeing some early on. All he seems to do is shoot from deep now. Sims made his moves work but it’s basically one dribble inside and try out jumping the defender. Bamba, if he even plays again this year, doesn’t have moves either.

O has gained 20 lbs and lost easily a half step since he got on campus. Bamba has a move: it’s called the 7’9” wingspan. That’s it. I hope his toe is ok but going out with an injury is probably the best thing for him at this point. And us.

Frankly I’d like to see a smaller, faster, more athletic and spirited lineup make a run. I’ve said it all season, Shaka needs to play Jacob Young more because he’s aggressive and he’s a spark. When Young gets quality minutes, his game settles in and he makes less mistakes.

Now that Davis is ineligible we really have no one else to rotate so I guess he has no choice. Sims will fill in just fine as a center piece.

If Jones had been playing all season I’d be on the fire Shaka train but it’s obvious looking back we were gonna make some noise in the tourney with him playing. Without bamba we don’t even make it. The rebounding alone we may lose costs us. Though there’s 2-3 less 3PG missed too

Lance Blanks says we are in the tourney after this win.
Would still like to win one or two more.
We were good early taking Duke and Gonzaga to overtime.
    Losing Jones really hurt.
Winning this game without Jones, Davis and really Bamba was a good thing.

Yes to just about all of the above. Speaking of osu not being a great team, yet they are 14-2 when making at least nine 3's. Think about that vis a vis "this team (horns) looks totally different when someone knocks down a three once in a while..." Well, have the horns had one game this year when they've made nine or more 3's?
I haven't looked up the stats, but I'm guessing not many. Maybe early on in Seattle in one of our overtime losses (duke or Zags). But not in conference, have we?

Imagine our record if the horns would have had 16 games with at least nine 3's!

First foul he barely if at all touched him. Replay wasn't great, but I didn't see any arm movement at all. 2nd foul was a flop pure and simple. Like watching Wade all over again in the 06 finals.

Vol Horn 4 Life Good Bye To All The Rest!

I heard that quote from him and I was very confused by it. Beating an average OSU team guarantees us a spot in the tourney?!?

If we somehow split the last two games I think we are in. If we lose both as expected I don't see why anyone would put us in at 17-14 and 7-11 in conference. Get bounced early from the conference tourney and we'd be 17-15......how is that guaranteed to get us a spot? Statistically we are one of the worst teams in the country. Just because we played a tough schedule doesn't mean we are a good team. That was a very homer comment by him.

I keep seeing people saying we are in and I do not get that either. We can certainly still win our way in, but since 17-15 is the more likely scenario, I am lost how there is a guaranteed spot for any 17-15 team unless it won a conference tournament.

    I don't know how it's figured.
But "they" are saying there could be 9 teams from B12 in tourney.
    Only ISU left out.

Split the next two then win two in the tournament and we have a shot. Otherwise forget it.

They have to be assuming we win or they are looking at it now excluding any results from our last games.

Last week Lunardi proclaimed that Baylor would be in if it beat Texas......well now that they have lost 2 more, wonder what he is saying!!

Too many 'experts'; just leave it in hands of selection committee!

I think Texas is out unless we beat KU and/or WVU. Conf. tournament game has no bearing. Heres Julardi's logic:

Baylor (RPI 63), Texas (RPI 55) and OU (RPI 34) are virtually the same team this year all competing for the last spot from the Big 12(10). Even if Baylor beats OU tomorrow night they split their series but OU has the better RPI and other tangibles. If OU beats Baylor tomorrow night - OU sweeps Baylor and it's really a moot argument for Baylor to get in. Baylor swept Texas and Texas swept OU, but looking at the body of work I'm guessing OU get's the nod over us, or Baylor.

The 3 teams should have pretty close to the same record at selection time give or take 1 w or l.; the committee almost certainly will go with OU because of their higher RPI. We could sprinkle in the detractors of the FBI probe and the implications of Eric Davis' potential ineligibility, the loss of Mo to injury and the potential for him to not play. If the selection committee is concerned with ratings, then they assuredly would prefer to have a healthy Naismith candidate Trae Young appear in the tourney. Texas is playing on fumes. We're just not a sound nor sexy selection. IMHO.

I caught that too. He caught what he said and then backtracked to say that it was in the way he had handled the situation. Wonder how the other folks that were caught up in this are continuing to play,.

Yeah, I think we need to beat ku (not happening) or wvu (might happen) to have any shot at making the march tourney. :hookem2:

I don't think so. First... we're not winning either of those games. But second, I do think that a first-round Big XII win will probably be enough to slip by.

I've set my mental clock at two years from now as when I'm going to make my decision about Shaka. I'll give him next year because I think he's still got lots of young guys who are maturing, and quite frankly he's got some more dead weight at the top of this class that's not going to make the team a whole lot better next year. In two years, this will truly be his team, with guys he's recruited who've had time to mature and progress under his system. If we're talking about whether or not we're going to make the tournament at this time during THAT season, then I'm done.
