The umps have been terrible the whole series and I am surprised he did not say something to get himself thrown out Friday.
Texas takes Sunday game 10-5 and wins series 2-1. Horns move to 5-1 in conference play. Four game road trip coming up with 1 in San Marcos Tuesday and 3 in Manhattan KS next weekend. Horns need to keep their winning ways going if they want to be playing into June.
Does Holliday whine and practice "gamesmanship" more than any coach in the conference. He begs so much he needs a sign and a cup.
The only thing I can imagine Coach saying in that instance is something like, "How long are you guys going to listen to his BS?" and that should not get you tossed. From that far away, I would think he had to call the ump a name to get thrown out and I just can't imagine Coach starting a conversation like that in that situation.
What I read elsewhere is that he said let's get back to playing ball. If that's true it seems ridiculous for him to get thrown out. Now if the ump had told him to get back in the dugout and he didn't do it I could understand, but he was thrown out immediately and the only reason for that would be some bad cussing. Why do all the umps suck so much?
They do not. There is just one Big 12 group we had problems with last year as well. I hope our new AD will step in and do something about this. This one group has been a problem every time and should no longer call our games.
If so, I think you should look into his office in Stillwater. Maybe the "disease" spreads to anyone occupying that office, because Gary Ward was certainly one of the alltime worst.
I don't know what started the conversation that ultimately led to Pierce's ejection, but while he was still in the dugout he can clearly be seen to be saying "Fxxx You" to one of the umpires. Pierce then exits the dugout and is tossed almost immediately.
