Wow... it just occurred to me that Notre Dame is the only team in the Final Four with a female coach (not that it matters or anything). I wonder if this has ever happened before.

Didn't think about that, but you are right. All of these Final Four coaches are outstanding. I love Muffet McGraw, Jeff Walz, and Geno's record speaks for itself. However, what Vic Schaefer has done at Mississippi State is beyond impressive. His team has reached the National Championship game two years in a row now and he has zero McDonald's All Americans on his roster. Talk about developing talent and building chemistry. You gotta take your hat off to him!!!

Agree. Schaefer is an outstanding coach. Situationally - few better - as we saw tonight a/g Louisville - who blew it. They shouldn't have lost that game. Lots of bad management by Jeff and his squad tonight.

Victoria Vivians should have easily been a McDonald’s All American. But you’re absolutely right, he has done a great job. It’s not a coincidence that a&m hasn’t been the same since he left. The development of McCowan has been very important. IMO she’s the key, if she plays well Mississippi State will win.

So now we get to decide who to root against harder: an SEC team or ND.

    I need a pill.

Gotta go with Vic - great coaching and a lot of local Mississippi players.

Thinking there could be a lot of shots falling short - both teams played OT and I expect a lot of tired legs.

I'm rooting for Mississippi State, although I'm happy for either one. Outstanding jobs done by both coaches this year!

Geno was his usual obnoxious self in a postgame presser.

I actually read it as a quasi-joke. He’s said things about his current/former players that I find worse.

I'm old-fashioned; I think coaches shouldn't use such language to the media (some of which edited him).

I've only read a paraphrase, but to me, worse than that was his statement implying they don't have a go to player who can pull out tough games. A not too subtle dig at his own players who have worked hard and had a fantastic season.

Coaches say dumb things. After the OSU loss, Mulkey made a comment about how Marie Gulich, who is from Germany, played "much better than a senior." This was either a clumsy compliment or a hint that she had played professionally in Europe. Odd thing to say - sort of in the category of the "10 all Americans" comment.

And she got a little bit country, too. “Guys, we milked that turnip about as far as we could milk it,” Mulkey said.

Clearly many things both Geno and Kim have said over the years have been beyond what many feel is acceptable, and they've generally been called out in those situations. I seem to recall a comment, or comments made by Geno about Taurasi 15 or so years ago that many took offense to, including a lot of UCONN fans (surprising since Geno seldom does anything wrong in their eyes). I wish I could remember what was said, but it was fairly shocking at the time (perhaps not so much anymore given that standards aren't what they once were). I think the feeling was he may have been trying to motivate Diana by getting under her skin in a public way, but the details are fuzzy now.

He said something to the effect she (Taurasi) was lazy and "not as good as she thinks she is"...yeah, right...isn't she the all-time top scorer now in the WNBA?? A_hole, that man..
