that they played baseball in the Cotton Bowl at one time? Seems as though Dallas had a member of the Texas League, the Dallas Eagles and they played their home games at the Cotton Bowl.

PS history note.......in 1960 the Eagles and their old Rivals the Ft. Worth Cats were combined and called the DFW Rangers and the rest is history!

After further review they may have only played their opener there and played at Burnett Field for for the rest of the season..........any DFW old timers shed some light on this?

That would be an odd field to play on. If my calculations are correct, the outfield depth is only ~130 ft down the lines

probably much like the games the Dodgers played in the LA Coliseum before they moved to Chavez Ravine.

The distance from homeplate down the line to the concrete wall would have been a minimum of 60-70 yards, but more likely closer to 250 feet.

:arrow-up: Looks like a good crowd for 1950.

That photo is likely from 1957, when the Dodgers moved to LA and opened against the Giants. The crowd in that photo is close to, if not over 90,000.
